You all receive:
A free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition detailed above
A free copy of NS2 Standard Edition to give to a friend or stroke lovingly
Continued private beta access right up to launch day in October
This means that today, we are giving away 45,000 copies of the NS2 Standard Edition for free. If you own the NS2 Special Edition (Black Armor) we will be adding an option to allow you to switch between Deluxe and Special Edition armor.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I just wanted to make sure there was not some kind of glitch making it so I did not receive these things or something. I have been in the beta for a quite a long time but have still not received the giftable copy for a friend or anything.
Just curious if anyone knows what is going on beyond the post above by Unknown Worlds.
Thank you.

Give them a little time, mang. I haven't received mine either, but the system has a lot of accounts to send things to and it's not in any particular hurry.

'Today' being the 4th of September which was 5 days ago. I'm not a big fan of things like this being stated and not delivered on or followed up on as it leaves you unsure of what is happening. I see no new information about another time it is going to happen, "before release" is kind of a given but like I said I am not a fan of ambiguity especially for something which was supposed to be sent out 5 days ago.

Who cares when they will come out, "today" was referring to when they announced it. It makes no difference as you can't even use the games until release. And you will have it by then so less QQ more Pew Pew.
Say you're going to give out free stuff on a specific date, don't deliver anything on that date and say nothing about it even 5 days later.
It's a two way street, the only difference is what I am saying actually has validity to it. It's not about the extra copy of the game, I could buy 1,000 copies right now if I felt so inclined. It's about communication with the community and staying true to your word about something. I'm not a person to complain but things like this just irk me in all the wrong ways.
If they would have updated some public status or even the front page saying "Hey we will get you guys those free copies on Steam in a few days" that would be fine as that is something tangible. Saying something then going completely silent on the other hand is just not a good way to go about something.
Besides you could have figured out that the freebies will be sent out before the full release and that they haven't gone out yet if you tried searching the forum instead of creating a new topic and being a smart ass to the people trying to tell you that you will get it in due time.

I'm pretty sure it is....

You're lucky they are even giving away freebies like this so why not show a little gratitude? instead of demanding.

I'm being rude and ungrateful for calling things out exactly as they are? What warped perception of reality do you guys live in? I appreciate what they are doing, I am grateful for it, however I do not appreciate them saying one thing, not delivering on it then not actually saying anything else about it. That's not an unrealistic or rude request, it's called keeping things grounded and true. I already explained the importance of communication and essentially lying to the community like this is going to bode people that are not happy with it. This isn't the land of lollipops and wizards where everything is soft and fuzzy, this is reality and in reality when people say something and don't deliver on it people get pissed.
Buddha said, first remove "I", that's ego,
then remove "want", that's desire.
See now you are left with only Happiness.
You got the answer to your topic, take it and please go.

I mean you guys so readily throw it in my face like it's common knowledge yet have not produced anything beyond your own posts which would bring weight to what you are saying. Has it not been made clear enough by me that I am looking for official word on this? I mean is the third time of me saying that too much of a request?
Seriously?
Unfortunately this is a pattern that has kept occurring throughout the whole development. I've kind of learned to live with, but it's certainly something I don't like and it affects the way I view any information coming from UWE.
It's kind of a big shame to complain about things, especially when it's related to such a nice gesture from UWE, but at the same time I'm always feeling a bit uneasy when the basic company-customer relation isn't working all the way. It's much easier to enjoy all the wonderful stuff when you know the basics are functioning exactly as they should.
I generally feel it's good to complain about these things because these could help UWE improve a lot as a company. Little things make a world of difference when you're trying to convince people outside the rock solid fanbase.

I just appreciate when people say they are going to do something that they either do it, or if they are unable, they let the community know why they can't and when they will possibly be able to. Then when you ask about it the fanboyish people in the community just go nuts like it's a personal attack on them and their game when you are just trying to keep things honest and bring clarity to a situation that has been reneged on.

Try using the search function, taking people at there word and maybe using some common sense next time.
The developers can't cater to all your questions, after all you're not the center of the universe, they have much to work on before release.
So just be patient, They are working on it. You will get your free copy, why not be excited? pretty cool of them to throw in these free bonuses. Heck maybe it would have been better if they didn't give us free stuff, because then you wouldn't be upset about not getting your free stuff fast enough.
I'm sure you want your written apology from the developers because you didn't get your one of forty-five thousand copies "today"

Thank you for posting that quote but next time how about you actually read posts instead of skimming them then acting like a stuck up snob. You know people do search for things and believe it or not search functions don't always bring back what you are looking for if anything.

No I read it, you were being a smart ass to people telling you that you would get your free copy before release. Didn't take anyone's word and demanded a developer quote. But were too lazy to search for it yourself. Took me a couple seconds to get that quote after search, and it was posted on the 5th in reply to someone making the exact same kind of thread as yours.
You also jump to conclusions such as "Say you're going to give out free stuff on a specific date, don't deliver anything on that date and say nothing about it even 5 days later."
the developers did respond to users concerns. You also state that clearly you can afford 1,000 copies and that"before release" is kind of a given, yet you're too impatient to wait until then, and accuse the developers of not communicating with the community when they are giving the community free stuff and are actually responded to there questions. but as I said you're too lazy to look for them, I'm sorry if I am sounding harsh but I think everyone can agree that you're being completely unreasonable.

1.) Before the release is a given, it's not rocket science to assume they would go out before then. I'm not looking for amateur hour with people who think they are slick trying to slide things in on conjecture, I wanted to see official information, not what some guy thinks is going on.
2.) I did search it, I searched it before I made this ridiculous thread and nothing came up about it so naturally I created this.
3.) It seems that their 'response' to the community was not very well communicated and a single post in a buried thread a user created, great communication to the community at large...
4.) I'm not being unreasonable, you guys are in your fruitless pursuit to defend yourselves and a developer that is not making clearly stated information available about something they said they were going to do then proceeded not to.
I went through my stage of defending game developers when I was young, obviously you guys have not evolved to the point yet in your gaming careers where you realize a game developer is like a bad friend who is never on time, always telling you things and not doing them and in general being completely unreliable.

I think the important thing here to remember is: you cant use that free gift until launch day anyways.. soo whats the rush?

I feel like I keep saying it but...we haven't given away the gift copies of NS2 yet. We should do so this week if Valve out.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
