Reddit thread for people without interested friends to give away their free copies?

It occurred to me that giving them away on reddit might be a great way to get promotion for the game and build a community around it there (and hopefully make up for the loss of sales from the free copies.) What do you guys think. Good idea? We should certainly wait until we have a mechanism for giving them away available.

    Have to be careful with these, there are plenty of people who are just looking for a quick resale / hoarding and will say anything they can to get it.

    Not only that, but a thread like that could easily get out of control. If too many people want one, the ones who miss out might feel gypped or unfairly treated (even if it's an irrational feeling). If not enough people want one, it will present a strong negative image of us not even being able to give this game away for free.

    If we could keep it small and help a few people, that would work our great, but reddit is anything but small.

    I would suggest waiting for a while before giving away free copies, for UWEs sake. Perhaps giving away free copies can generate interest, but you are also taking away initial sales.

    My intention anyway is to wait a couple months then give it to any of my friends who have yet refused to buy it.

    I'd steer clear of any such thread. Treat it as if you've spent some 5 years working on the project yourself. Give it to someone that will respect, and enjoy it.

    I think it would be better to scroll through any NS2 related threads and look for those poor people who cant afford it and make their day. Like others have said a dedicated thread can descend into terrible pretty quick sometimes.

    There's already a thread here on the forums for key giveaways, and imho its better to let people post there if they have interest for a key - that way we weed out everybody who doesnt care enough to make a little effort.

    Give them to people you know and not people looking to resell on reddit.

    Also reddit is a known child pornography site. You shouldn't go there.

    I believe they said they'd be going out in a week or summat? At any rate, no they haven't gone out.
