<div class="IPBDescription">about a possible exploit</div> Just wondering if this was really an exploit (I tried using search, seems it is broken) Some people I was playing with claimed it wasn't because it was in three releases of the game. When you are commander, and you are focused on a hive for a few seconds, you will be able to 'hear' if there is a hive there. Just wondering, is this really a bug, or was it intended to be part of the game.

    It's 'tolerated', as you only get to know which hive the aliens are at, which you'd also find out with an investion of 2 RP.

    The thing is, in two straight games, the commander had us rush outside thier hive and siege right away. I dont think marines should be able to instantly find the aliens hive (especially without having to use any resources).

    Personally, I, an avid alien player, am inclined to agree.

    Officially, I have to say that if the aliens, which know for <i>sure</i> where the marines are, allow them to get straight out, it's their fault.

    I tried to search for a post that flayra (I believe) put, saying that he's trying to find a way to turn this "function" off. I used to use it as comm to rush their hive for an early win, and it only takes about 7 seconds to find the hive (if you have to check each one). lately I just rambo as a marine to find which one the skulks are coming from, then we can rush that way (except the comms have lately been big fans of turtling in base)

    I recall reading in a post some weeks ago that this was a feature, and not a bug. I think it was Flayra who said it but I'm not sure.

    Of course, if that's fixed you can just drop the cheapest building in the middle of each hive or in a doorway... whichever dies first is the hive they're probably at... there's no solution to this 'bug'.

    Ehh, the cheapest building is...what...15 for an infantry portal? And a commander would waste 45 resources on them? Doubtful...more likely, he'd just send scouts to each, or do what really good marine commanders do, know how long a rush takes from each hive and which direction they'd be coming from.

    Or you could build an obs at the beginning of the game and scan the hives, like you're supposed to do..
