<div class="IPBDescription">Nanite Nike's?</div>Is it just me or marines walk almost silently, so many times i come around a corner and theres 4 marines walking along...gibbed. Heard nothing. Same thing when chomping an RT your dead before you even get to react. For the rare occasions when camping an area i hear a marine walking along i jump out around the corner to kill as it sounds like he approached the corner i jump down to find him 5 metres away instead of where the sound told me it was...Dead.
When ever i play marines my own foot steps are almost inaudible whats going on here, Although i can hear skulks from MILES away and pinpoint their position pretty accurately. Aliens haven't ears? Marines can hear aliens way before aliens can hear marines, by the time the alien realises there are marines around and decides to hold shift to walk, its too late, they know your there.
The sound needs some tweaking.

Yeah its broken. Makes alien comms job alot harder, skulks doubly so.
As a marine commander, when a power node is active the EMP is visible. Therefore, I think it applicable that when as Kharaa the movement of a marine send out the same sort of graphic.
Ofcourse when the marine is still, no pulses will emanate.

Alien vision needs a make-over and this is a great idea. They did say it's supposed to be more of a sonar/sound-based syestem than thermal vision, didn't they?
I take full advantage of this as a marine always score a kill or three.

There's nothing wrong with this. Use your eyes and position yourself so you can peek around/through open gaps in the RT model. Put on thermal vision, it really helps in this situation.
And of course I'm assuming you're not sitting with your ass facing the directions marines will come from :)

the issues have been around since the start of the beta. No sound effects from people behind you specifically in the scenario i mention below, i just alt tabbed to mention this because i heard absolutely nuthin and its pissing me off that nothing is done about it, theres not even a thread about sound issues., how do you supposed to see them when they're around corners and you defiantly cant hear? Use your ears please, oh yea i forgot.
thermal vision was on, I was in a vent parasiting people turned around and saw a jet packer behind me, i coincidently turned around to see him and die promptly there after, i heard nothing he was less then 3 metres from me obviously using his jetpack to get into and traverse the vent, why didnt i hear him? aparantly im deaf. No, the game sounds are an issue. All i hear was a screaming dual minigun exo firing in ANOTHER ROOM. i cant hear a JP 3 feet from me around a corner in a vent, something that would carry sound extremely well.
How do you explain the times when your chomping an RT and you just insta die, you expect a marine to come shoot, but no matter how quick you are you are always dead unless you position yourself to see it coming, which is not always possible. ah i guess i dont have .0001 reaction speed and i dont have 1ms.
Theres everything wrong with this. im alt tabbed in a game right now to ragefully type this because it is SOOOO frustrating dying because the sounds are not working correctly. And to top it off all the other alien frustrations.
Its an issue, i guarantee you, i dont own a mixamp and a 200$ headset for nothing.
Positioning and not seeing has nothing to do with sounds not working correctly.
It's odd, and puts me on alert when there's no actual danger around. It makes it hard to discern if I should be ready to attack/defend, or if it's just another noisy person a quarter of the map away.
I guess that's better than not hearing anything at all, especially footsteps.
Dude, idk about your other sound issues. I was replying to the one situation where a skulk is chewing on an RT and it's hard to hear anything else. That is fine.
I honestly haven't played 220 yet, but if there are legit sound bugs or stuff not playing, of course I'd wanna see those fixed. o.O
