I have the ns2 black armor from a pre order a long time ago, pre alpha.my question is I should get the new marine model correct? And if so will it be black? Finally how do I know if I am using the new armor and if it is black, is there a way to tell?I know if I check downloadable content under my tabs in steam it shows black armor but never knew if it was black and how do I know if I have been automatically upgraded to deluxe edition

That was not his question, he thinks the new "classic" armor will come in black aswell, which it does not
I want my Rainbow ponies on my armor, whear is ett?
i know this sounds trivial and its just a texture, it wont change the game, i just like the fact i will stand out as someone who has been here from the start, pre ordered in mid 09. cant wait for v1 launch

with classic ive meant the deluxe armor. i said classic because it is based on the old classic ns1 marine armor.
and no, it wont come in black
I want my my little pony armor, nao! D:
Create a LAN server
in console type: cheats 1
Then type: thirdperson
There you go you can look around your player model.
Then don't use it. It's a gift, not a right.
And it's a crap product in my opinion (the visor, that is). Red armor, in addition to making me happier for purchasing the deluxe ed. (by timing or what-not) would make more people want to upgrade to deluxe ed. It's simple marketing really; I feel like the deluxe ed. "bonuses" are extremely weak right now. A soundtrack, some ugly accessory for your head, and a picture book + wallpapers for is it $10 extra? I'm guessing not many will be upgrading to that. I wouldn't have if I hadn't been automatically upgraded anyway.
For that matter, I'd love to see more models in the fashion of Killing Floor (extremely cheap $1 or $2 "DLCs"). Perhaps not as crazy (I feel like they went a little overboard with the designs) but definitely different colors or styles of armors or alien skins.
All of that after release for sure though; the major focus should be on balancing, bugs, glitches, exploits, and performance (ingame/network/loading) before release.
No, you paid for it. I paid for the game and got the armor as a gift.
Fine, you paid for it. Why are you complaining about it? You're the one who went and bought it; if you didn't like it, you shouldn't have spent money on it.
Just leave it alone, no unlocks, no decals, plain and simple :)
And no, I didn't purchase the deluxe ed. directly, I was automatically upgraded to it. While I guess the deluxe ed. can be considered a "gift" to me (if you ignore time value of money ;-) ), all I'm saying is that better bonuses like more distinct in-game customization options will get UW more money - in addition to making me happier.
I like boring stock models :P

1) There is no "upgrading to the deluxe edition"! These "crappy bonuses" were / are given for FREE to EVERYONE.
2) The deluxe armor isn't just a new visor, they made a whole new marine armor (like I said: for FREE).
3) If I was UWE I would give people like you another special armor. A pink one, with the phrase "ungrateful ***hole" written on the back.
Can someone cover this for me if they know what my problem is or not?
Thank you

So, from the Steam store page: "Pre-Purchase Natural Selection 2 and receive a free upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition!"
Right.
If I was UWE I would make a model for which people would want to upgrade to DDeluxe after launch.
Also, I don't understand why you think the DDeluxe is "FREE" since it's clearly not free. Pre-orders aren't EVERYONE; it's a time-limited promo. Maybe you don't understand how time value of money works, or the product lifecycle in digital software distribution?
Take for example the black armor. It's free right? No, actually it's priceless, and if people who had unused codes were to sell them I bet they can make a TON of money if the game becomes very popular after release (unlikely but it could be). It's an expensive "free" reward for locking in money into the game for years on end without a clear outcome.
P.S. My understanding is that the "deluxe edition bonus" is that helmet visor that everyone who currently plays the game has. Everyone who is currently playing has the deluxe edition version of the game, since it's a preorder. We are yet to see the "standard edition" armor after release, but my understanding is that it's the same except the visor. Maybe I'm wrong, we'll see. I hope there's an option to turn the visor off in the model selector; I think it's ugly.

I would like this as well. A box you can tick to see all models as stock regardless of whatever model they have.
The standard edition armour is the green armour that we have been seeing since the beta started. The armour shown in the picture that accompanied the announcement is the deluxe version. Take another look at it, it's much more different than just the new visor.
I like it. I don't think its a very big deal. Honestly, I would(and did, just like what, 99% of the early preorders?) pay extra just to support UWE, so the extra stuff was just icing on the cake. However I do think that that particular market has been mostly tapped. Sure, it could be better, but I still have to give them props for giving it all out for free on a $25 game. I did not feel ripped off at all.
Still waiting for the customization options though.
When ppl see black armor, they do have expectations :)
