<div class="IPBDescription">For the skeptical people</div>Friend of mine is interested in NS2 but he really wants to play a demo before he decides on actually buying it.

Are there any plans for a demo on Steam?

Yeah everyone who preordered NS2 got a "lifetime demo" that they can give to anyone they choose.

If you haven't got your free copy yet, go over to his house, login to your steam on his PC, download NS2 and let him play for a few hours. :)

I think a better question to ask is will NS2 every have Free Weekends like they do with a lot of games. Not sure how easy that ###### is to be set up but many people would most likely buy after a weekend with this beast. Especially if there were community where there would be specific servers they join where people can teach them how to play so they don't get raged at.

A free weekend or two is definitely the intention, but I don't think the plans are any more detailed than that right now.

What if they did something like what bf1942 did when it first came out? Offer a demo of one map, such as summit, and then in order to get full access they need to buy the entire game?

Edit: I also think that if you do ever do a weekend demo or something it should only be for only one map. That way new players can spend more time learning the mechanics rather than learning the maps. I know when I first got NS2, and even NS1 for that matter, it was a bit frustrating learning the maps. It kind of deterred from really getting into the game since I was spending a lot of time looking at the map.
