Im still trying to figure out the spit. I cant tell if its a dodgy projectile or just dodgy as hell. It doesnt feel hitscan, but it sure as hell doesnt feel like a projectile. As someone whos played tribes for around 8 years now I can handle projectiles. It feels like when you fire it the spit gets stuck on the player model for a bit, then randomly splatters out. If it is a projectile dear god make it smooth and make it visible, its critically important that projectile attacks be highly visible, both so new players can learn how off their aim is and so you can get skill based dodging. Theres a reason spinfusors are bright blue.
It's not hitscan, it's just that you can't see your projectile till it hits and leaves a mark on the wall, you only see a ball of spit come out of your mouth and disappear.
This really needs to be fixed, it's outright confusing.

If I could see the spit I could probably take on early game marines

+1 The spray of slime was a terrible idea as far as combat is concerned.
They just need to make him tankier at the very least, or have his spit deal a lot more damage up close. Or both. But he's definitely not a combat engineer in his current state, heck I would even argue he's neither combat NOR engineer. (3 ###### hydras and a bunch of clogs don't qualify to make a class an engineer)

true. i read about a "nydus" type of structure idea here in the forums, which i really liked a lot. this + a webs like ability (mainly against JPs) would make the gorge be a big additional to any alien team. i hope once 1.0 is released i will have again more time to experiment with new abilities
Love the idea of web coming back and nydus like function that gorges can build to support the team, I tweeted this to Charlie a while back "how awsome would it be if aliens could "teleport" thru underground holes,a model I made <a href="http://i.imgur.com/R0uIY.jpg"" target="_blank">http://i.imgur.com/R0uIY.jpg "</a> a single gorge can build 2 holes that are linked to eachother for aliens to teleport thru ( exept the onos ) so they work in pairs not like marines' PG

But who's gonna be ontop?
Right now and forever the gorge will be the most powerful life form out there. They can single handily sneak into or egg in a marines base and take out the power node. Or take out server key building and clear the mine, they come back for 10 p res and do it again. As the single life form that makes it work early, mid and late game.
<!--coloro:#FFC0CB--><span style="color:#FFC0CB"><!--/coloro-->Gorge spit works fine, there's just a bug where you can't see your own projectile. Other than that, it's a solid attack and quite capable of dispatching early game marines.
Also, hydras and clogs may not seem like much, but in the right place they can make a world of difference. All comes down to strategic placement.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->
i dunno close range its so weird you have to shoot way off your target to land spits, its like the distance doest matter its just a delay between the hit and the shot.
Spit is bugged - it won't always hit if you're moving away from your target. I think it's colliding with itself? It's difficult to tell without the model. But bilebomb does the same thing I think.
Sometimes when I shoot a structure and it "misses", it will explode at a nearby wall a few seconds later. Is it still doing that thing where it rebounds off structures and moves in slow motion?
Also it seems to go straight through observatories quite often.
Currently you cannot hit something with spit at about point blank range, you cannot see your own spit projectile which makes aiming it difficult, and it can bounce off things or shoot out at an angle that doesnt align with your view.
Has anyone here played black mesa yet? If you haven't, go play it now. If you have I'd like you to think about the way the bullsquid acid spit attack worked. What if gorge spit worked in a similar way? Several projectiles that spread out like a shotgun blast and are affected by gravity like the bile bomb only shorter ranged than the bile bomb. Would make it much better for a self defense weapon. Maybe give the spit attack a longer cooldown between spits and a higher energy cost to make up for its increased effectiveness.

Just don't let it's mouth near anything. You've already seen what that goop does to it's teeth.

We have that, its supposedly what spikes are
