<div class="IPBDescription">.....</div> Sorry to talk about something thats always been spoke about but, wouldnt it make sense if the offense chambers shot spikes instead like the lerks? i mean the off. chambers will then be able to hold of marines instead of having a crappy aim with the spitgun attack... also it should have had the spike attack instead of the spit because of what the model looks already, i mean it looks stupid to see a wobbly chamber like spiky thing move back and forward but spit....

i have to agree with on that part, you would think it would shoot spikes, and it probably do something if shot spikes, (not this spit ball thing, which takes 3 seconds to shoot between each one).
It's just like TF's, you build TFs inorder to slow down aliens, not to kill them.
aye so in theory its quite even really, cus turrets are about the same strength as a OC i believe?
So turrets have more accuracy, but offence chambers can heal themselves, theyre cheaper and if they do hit you on target then they hurt.

I dunno about you, but I think the last time that an OC hit me was when I was trying to jump over it. Honestly, right now a good marine shouldn't ever be hit by them. Either dodge them or use corners or height to hit them from where they can't hit you. Having them shoot a spike attack might be a bit better, make taking out offense chambers a bit more interesting.
In particular, the height thing should probably be taken care of. As it stands now, offense towers built on the bottom of the maintence hive or triad generator in ns_eclipse simply can't hit marines on the nearby overlooking areas, by the ladders. (Sure you learn not to build down there, but it'd would be nice if the offense chambers didn't choke so bad on height.)

What WHEN could OFfense chambers heal themselves? don't you mean that the defense chambers heal the offense chambers? if thats the point a welder can repair structures.......
I suspect he either didn't get around to changing it because of the crapload of more important things he had to to do for the game, or because, in his infinite wisdom, he had a reason why it wouldn't work as well that way. *shrugs*
Honestly I'd like spikes for a cosmetic upgrade but gameplay wise I think they're fine.

Well, it has the potential for adding a heck of a lot more polygons to the view...Imagine a wall of lame, and then all the extra projectiles it would be shooting. They're bloody useless. When I'm alone in spawn armor with an LMG, I cut through O towers easily. They hardly ever hit me and the only limitation is how much ammo I can carry, and that's a whole lot.
I'd like to see offense towers being even a fraction as useful as turrets.
But anyhoo. I like the blobs of goo. I think the spikes are more for appearance.. as to say, "Look at me, I'm sharp and pokey!" to indicate that it is aggresive and on the offense. Defense chambers have armored cladding, like shields, etc, etc.
I think the only reason an O chamber has ever killed a jetpacker was because of the inaccuracy. If it aimed for them, it'd miss. If it tried to predict their movement, it'd miss (they don't move very consistantly). The inaccuracy, plus sheer amounts of fire, is what makes them actually work (doens't help against marines just peeking around a corner, in complete safety).
