how much will optimization leading to v1 boost my FPS ?

Maybe my system is getting old. Phenom 2 x4 965 @ 3.8ghz, 4gb ddr2 1066, nforce 740a chipset, gtx 480 and windows Vista. I'm getting 40-60 fps when not fighting, 15 fps when in fights with structures and infestation. Do you guys think 60 fps avg in heavy fights is possible in version 1 ?

    i7-920 @ 4.2ghz, gtx 480 (840/1680/1950), win7 x64. Getting about 65 in most areas, ~45 when fighting, 1920x1080 everything on highest. Not the best FPS but I do like the visuals. Sometimes it feels like it slows down a LOT in very heavy fights when a marine base is getting sieged for example... so, comparable to yours. I haven't really graphed the FPS much though, just looking at r_stats...

    My GPU utilization seems to be 100% pretty much all the time, so I think the game might unfortunately be GPU-bound for us. I am not really expecting much improvement personally, unless they do some substantial work on the shaders, and generally make them much less expensive, which isn't likely to happen IMO, but you never know.

    This game will probably make me buy a new video card eventually XD... maybe a 680 or a 670, or if I can hold off until the inevitable refresh next year before Maxwell happens (780/770?) that might be best :-) .

    What was the tickrate of the servers that you were playing on?

    You can get some pretty poor framerates simply due to being on highly populated servers that don't have the hardware necessary to sustain larger player counts, due to all the additional predictions burden put on your own PC when the server tickrate drops.

    I have very similar but slightly lower spec CPU and GPU then you but I am seeing +10fps from what you are getting. I am running Windows 7, maybe some of the Vista drivers are out of date?

    needs a lot more optimization before release otherwise new players will be deterred by horrid fps. Currently get 40-60 odd fps with gtx 670, i5 25K 4.4ghz, 8gbram

    if you have 15 fps constantly infights with this kind of setup something is wrong with it. I am running fine on a phenom II x4 955be @ 3.3GHz.
    if it just drops once in a while to 15 fps I think you would have to live with it. The game does have some drops in fights now and then. I doubt perfromance will increase a lot up to 1.0 considering release is in 2-3 weeks.

    This was on a server with 24 players. I think I would get slightly higher fps on an 18 player server. All my driver's are up to date. I'm using beta geforce drivers v306.23.

    When monitoring r_stats, does it say 0ms waiting for GPU? If it is more than 0ms, then your GPU is the bottle neck, try turning down your resolution. If it's constantly 0 then you CPU is the bottleneck and there's not much you can do without upgrading or waiting for further optimization.

    I have a similar computer a little bit worse and I do not play on All-in #1 for performance reasons. The frame rate in big fights takes a huge nosedive for me. Try going down to 18 or 20 player servers and you should see a large difference in your performance. Games that big are dumb anyway imo.

    infight FPS are around 1-5 in big fights at 1280x720 everything low :/ ...
    so if i play, u should be able to do so too

    I have an i7 2600k OC'ed to 4.4ghz, a pair of GTX 580's, and 16gb of I think it's 1600mhz ram (it's been a few months since I put it in). I run in 1920x1200 and don't notice any slow down unless there are several Exos firing, but that's likely server lag. The current biggest problem with this game's optimization is the lack of multithreading. If you have an i7 or something else with multiple cores, it's not going to use them and that's a big problem. If they get fixed and perhaps put out a 64 bit version it should increase performance considerably.

I posted on the last build having good FPS(30+) but this latest build killed my FPS. I really hope they fix this as I would assume my PC as average for a consumer easily. Other-wise consumers will stop playing quickly. Please stop catering to high-end PC's or we wont have anyone to play with after launch :(. This has been a problem since Alpha(which I quit, and the last build was great but this build was a step backwards), and it has been noted the entire time for the last year or two. I really should not have to upgrade for one game when others such as BF3 and Secret World run fine...

    The game doesn't lack multithreading. It just isn't optimized most likely. I lose around 7 avg fps with multicore rendering off. :)

    gtx 260 ? When you play a game type "r_stats". Does your GPU stat stay at 0 ms ?

    I'm confident that the game is still not optimized well. Last patch was lockdown, so next patch will be full of optimization and bug fixes. go UWE !

    My computer at work i go well above 50fps

    at home on my laptop, 20ish max with everything off.

    my ability to hit skulks and bite marines at home is limited, i usually comm where it's not as vital to have super high fps

    I heard that the game is locked below some monitors' refresh rates at 100fps or so, is this true? I've never been able to get that much even on the main menu to test it, but if it is, don't see why it should be unless it's for technical reasons? 100-120fps makes a nice difference against fast-moving skulks and screen movement.

    Yeah game is "locked" at 100FPS, I've seen it go up to 106 in the readyroom though... But haven't seen it reach 120FPS your 120Hz peeps want, I doubt NS2 can reach that any time soon though...

    I have a Phenom II X6 1055T and an HD7950. Until overclocking the X6 from 3GHz to 3.5, my performance was horrible (~<20fps, stuttering whenever any enemies are on my screen). Had and have 0 GPU wait, and as noted overclocking CPU resolved it. Game clearly only uses one core for most of its work, as if it really needed another 600Mhz it could have taken it from the 15,000 I have lying around in other cores. (remarkably simplified anecdote, I know, but thats the way processors are going these days)

    What I am seeing is so different than what you guys are seeing it is hard to understand. I see fairly consistent usage of all 4 cores of my i7 920 (hyperthreading is off, overclocked to 3.8Ghz). It certainly isn't 100% used but it certainly isn't 1 core pegged and the rest doing nothing.

    AMD Phenom 1055T @ 3500mhz, Radeon 7850 OC, 16gb ram.
    All settings LOW, textures - high. No AA.
    Perfomance is about 50-60fps in readyroom, ingame is about 40-45, when fight it drops to 20-30, so i cannot aim.
    I feel that begin love this game, but perfomance still bad for me.

    I think changing processor to i7 3770 will give about 30% additional perfomance. But i beleive there will be more optimisations.
