Bad performance

Hello,

Since I bought NS2 6 months ago, I have played with very bad performance, but I used to think that it was because the game is in beta. NS2 is almost released and I still having very bad performance. I usually get about 120 ping-rate and 15 fps. I don't think that my computer or ADSL is not enough because it doesn't give me problems in others games like Starcraft 2 or Battlefield 3.

My computer characteristics:

AMD Phenom™ II x2 545 Processor 3.00GHz
ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB
RAM: 4GB
Windows 7 64 bits

My bandwidth: 6MB

All drivers are updated.

Thank you very much for your attention

Yes, current performance is unacceptable. Your computer is also below minimum specs (GPU), which obviously makes it unplayable.

Minimum requirements are too much I think... :S

So you expect a low end card for 50-80$ from more than 4 years ago to run recent games? I wouldn't.

Edit: I'm not saying NS2 performance is fine. I'm saying that I wouldn't expect to run any recent games on this computer, no matter how well optimized.

I know that my card is old right now, but it still working very good for all new games, not at maximum stats but for medium-low.

    Thanks you anyway!

P.D. if is my card, I don't know why I get the same perfomance in medium and low stats :/

If it is your graphics card then turning down your resolution will have the biggest improvement on fps.

You can tell if your graphics card is the bottleneck by typing r_stats into the console and then looking for the line that says "x ms waiting for GPU", if it says 0ms then your CPU is the bottleneck and there's not much you can do. Anything over 0 means your graphics card is the bottleneck and turning down settings and resolution should increase your fps.

    Hi,

I will check that tonight (right now I have no time) But I can tell you that I tried overclocking the graphic card, and I get better fps and performance, so I think that problem comes from my Graphic card.

Update: I checked r_stats, it is about 40 ms waiting for GPU. I tried turning down resolution from 1920x1080 to 1400x900 and ms decrease to 0. My fps increases from 30 to 50, so is very nice :D. Still when there are many things moving in the screen FPS decrease to 30 again but I think that this is normal more or less...

Now play NS2 is a little bit more ugly cause the resolution but at least I can play decently :D. Thank u very much dude!

P.D. The guy who asked for my mouse, it is: Mouse 1337 Chief Laser - 5000 DPI
