It was late in the game, during one of those very good games; the aliens had two hives and had been bombarding the third with fades. My team was stressed, cut in half one party trying to keep the third hive intact and the other trying to capture another one. The commander was doing a great job given the circumstances, nobody was complaining or asking for anything they didn’t need, they were doing their part and doing it well. The alien team had to be panicking from the various attempts to siege out a hive. A truly record breaking game that had already gone on for hours and promised to go on for hours more.
Then it happens, the commander disconnected or quit I’m not sure which one it was, I had gone to the bathroom and came back with the rest of my team stuck in the base, they had taken the third hive. Luckily it was VERY well defended so the rush of Onos that came soon after I had gotten back failed for the most part. People were hopping in and out of the chair at random, placing health packs and weapons down. We were going to lose. Then I form an idea, what if I got three people jet packs and guided them to all three hives, this is bast and I know there are places to hide Tf’s and sieges at all three hives. So I hop into the chair and pick the three best players on my team, I inform them of my idea and they agree that it is possible. I send them to the three different locations.
Luckily we still had a plentiful supply of resources since people were mainly buying health packs. I threw down three TF’s and upgraded them, soon after I put down 6 siege cannons. i told them to all build the cannons not all the way but close enough that they could just click once and they would activated. To my shock and luck, they did just that.
I pressed my chat button and typed in;
“Hey, aliens, I’m the new comm.”
Needless to say I wasn’t welcomed into the chair by them. So I went on
“Look, you need to stop attack my base or I will destroy all of your hives within the next 40 seconds”
I got laughed at
“I warned you”
So I instructed the three people to activate the sieges, they did so all at once. In one swift moment all three locations went off, and in, what I am guessing was 40 seconds all three hives were gone and I heard the beautiful beeping noise you get when the aliens are suffering a slow shameful death. A little while later we won the game. I got back on the comm. When they had all died, “I warned you, didn’t I?”
So that is my new glory moment. Of course, I changed a few bits here and there, like it took a couple tries to get all three locations up and running, namely at feedwater. It didn’t exactly go as smoothly as I told it, like for example, the two remaining Onos decimated my base soon after the hives were gone all but my self in the chair and one of the people at the location were dead.
This raises an interesting question though, how come the two sides always have to be fighting? I offered them a peace treaty for a while so that both sides could plan a better attack, not to mention a break from the constant 4 hour battle and they would have won anyway… though, I can see how they just wanted to finish it. Still though, imagine the kind of attacks both teams could plan out if only they stopped fighting for a while. Of course this wont work on public servers, but luckily I was in a private one.
