Hello all,

I'm gona buy some hardware for my new server and since ns2 have release in a few days its time!

I'm gona host a server with 20 slot limit on it if this system can handel it? maybe more then 1 cause ns only use 1 core and this cpu has 4 cores so maybe 3.

I'm also gona use this server as a NAS for my local files but that wont interfere with the gaming servers.

I have a 250mbit fiber connection up and down.

Anything I should change? and if... why?

AMD vs INTEL for exampel?

processor: AMD-FX-4170 BE 4-Core 4.2GHZ 12MB socket AM3+
ram: 1600MHZ Corsair Vengence 32GB
Motherbord: ASUS M5A99X EVO 990X AM3+ ATX
HDD: INTEL 330 SERIES 2.5" 240GB SSD SATA/600 MLC 25NM RESELLER
PSU: 430W random brand dosent mater that much...

CPU cooling to make overclocking possible:
CORSAIR H70 CORE HYDRO SERIES LIQUID COOLING S-1155/1366/2011/AM3

Thanks for help guys

Best regards,

rexor

If you hosting for costumers that requires high quality then you need a seperate ssd disk for each server. So the current disk won't be overloaded when transfering files in windows. When disk is overloaded = tickrate drop.

I RECOMMMEND intel processor instead of amd.

A simpel setup for hosting 3 servers for costumers without getting tickrate drop based on ssd overload. Follow this example: 1 SSD 40gb för windows. Then adding 3 ssd 60gb för each dedicaded server. (Can explain more deeper on ts3 or pm message)

Buy a cheap i5 2500k, and overlock it to 4.4ghz , there is alot of easy guide to follow.

With cooling, corsair is very good. But i recommend you to choose corsair h80 instead.

Once you've accomplished your pc, then buy a cheap licens from <b>brainless ugcc</b> for 1 year. Which give you full control of your gaming servers, high priority, autorestart function, and alot of more important function.

Very important notice, about the modeboard you choose, what realtek or intel chipset for LAN. Intel is so much better then realtek. I recommend buying a cheap network card. example: Intel Pro/1000CT PCIe Desktop Adapter

And if your not a fan of overclocking then there is a cool function on msi modeboard that overclock your cpu to 4ghz :)

For more information, you may pm me or talk to me on my teamspeak 3 server.

PS: in my homesite there is a full list of my server hardware, please note that some thing is "overkill" and are not efficient like 1000 powersupply :P But it's plantinum based, so i save tiny more energy cost.
