Hey UWE, I had to create an account just so I could congratulate you guys on your milestone today! I've been playing since the NS 1 beta and I am so happy to see you guys have come such a long way. Congrats again and I hope to see you ingame soon!
Congratulation to whole UWE team, to all PT, to NS2 community around the world. Thank you for making such a great game and for showing me the beauty of indie game developement. I feel like I have new family somewhere in this virtual world.
I have grown up with you UWE. First time I played NS1 I was 13 years old. Now I'm 23. I never doubted you and checked for your website every week until on one day I was in awe when the new blog suddenly popped up. Through the matrix of timespace we all sent you lots and lots of of good vibes – and they payed off big time. If you keep those standarts you established, you will outrun your expectations.
Greetings and congratulations from an arse-cold Sweden! It's getting darker here each day, time to light my flamethrower in case the polar bears break through the ice and my army of angry penguins :) Well, it's fall anyway. Nice to have this spectacular event to warm me up! 10 years ago to the day I stayed up all... night... for NS1. I will do the same for NS2. Hopefully, I get to do it again with NS 3 :D (But by then I want oculus rift 3D, OK?)
Yeea-haa! For me it was like the game was already released all the time. A very good decision to seize the X-mas deal long ago, because it would've been tough to wait for all that time. I already waited for around 2 or 3 years before that. Checked in every couple of months. I feel happy for all these who can now enjoy the same gaming experience like I do. More players, more servers, more fun. There is still a long road ahead. Furthermore I am really anticipating a solid combat mode.
Observing the development of the game was very enjoyable.
I wish you best of luck and good figures! You deserve it.
On a side note: The Landing Pad RT was unreal =D and you used clips with the old and new infestation.
After playing a few games, I gotta say, this game is about the most fun I've had with a new release in a real long time. My NS2 game experience won't be complete until a populated combat mod server is around 24/7 but I have to say the base game is a lot more fun than was in NS1. After exclusively playing co_ in NS1 I might even switch between ns_ and co_ in UWEs second installment. Maybe.
I remember seeing an article on Ausgamers I believe about NS1 being released that night back in Halloween 2002, while I was browsing at work. It looked like my kind of thing with the mix of fps and rts (and Alien/Aliens/Predator vibe awesomeness), as I always loved Battlezone, and felt that the genre has never been really explored. I'm glad I got home and tried it out as it forever changed my perspective on what a team multiplayer game should be.
For all the great memories and great people I met playing NS1, it was a given to provide money back in the days when all we saw was a Dynamic infestation tech video for NS2. There was no guarantee you would get to NS2, but for all the fun NS1 gave me it was a just payment irrespective, with the big hope that you would pull off something awesome.
To see how this game has grown has been amazing, and your interaction with the community has made it a combined experience. The community has always been top notch compared to most, and the extreme mod-ability of this game is one of its shining features (and a ballsy move with LUA ontop of C++) and the reason PC gaming is the pinnacle. The release is only the start of what this game can become between your changes and what the community makes it.
You have fulfilled my hopes. Thank you for an awesome game! Time to teach some new players, so that they too can enjoy the passion that is Natural Selection.
Let me start by saying Happy Birthday to Natural Selection. I Remember that this great and awesome game was born at October 31, 2002. These where the glory days back then i was a CS player and also liked StarCraft 1 when i first saw this game in some HL mod site i was amazed of the idea to bring the FPS/RTS all together in to one amazing game.So after i tried the mod out i was hooked. The game was something totally new that i had experienced.I liked how the tho sides where totally different back then only thing that they had in common was to capture the resource nodes! So to be honest its still taking a little to get use to the alien commander and the 2 com chair tech lock I Miss HMG so much :(! But don't get be wrong that was NS 1 and its cool to see something new in Natural Selection 2!So if to speak some words about NS2 let me say that the dynamic infestation is amazing i like the feeling that it gives to alien side! And there are still lot more that i am impressed in NS2 like the stunning graphics, power nodes, gorge slide :)and so on.So not to make this to long i would like to say Big tanks to UnknownWorlds for making one of the best Games i played and for continuing the legacy. My hat goes off for them and specially to Charlie and MAX because they have done miracles with endless effort and a very small team back when they started! And i am so glad to see Natural Selection 2 is picked up by lot of new player out there! I have recommended it to all my friends and the ones that play games are joining the great community as i type :).
So lets us celebrate today and tonight the 10 Year Birthday of Natural Selection let there be at least 10 more same amazing years!
I am waiting to meet all the new players and i am happy to provide instructions and help as i can!
So see you on the Unknown worlds of Natural Selection and Happy Halloween! :)
Those with crashing problems - the dynamic infestation makes it graphicaly intensive. Is your system overclocked, gpu overclocked, or over heating? Anyone of those might cause it to crash.
For many hours now. Truly amazing to see and be part of. All my best wishes to the UWE Team, and all my thanks to the community, Playtesters and Map testers who have come and gone who have put in hundreds of thousands of hours playtesting NS2 so it could get to this place. Great job everyone!
I remember participating in the first alpha tests a couple years ago, and for whatever reason, I didn't keep up with the game. Yesterday I played for the first since then, and although I was virtually a newbie (NS1 experience not withstanding), it was damn fun. Well done, guys.
