Serious FPS issue

Hello,
I installed NS2 yesterday after 10 years of wait. After booting the game, I had serious FPS issues. I checked in the options and just with the menu opened, I had ~10fps. In-game, it was a lot worst.
I tried to lower all the graphic settings to LOW or OFF, but it didn't do much. I then lowered my resolution from 1388x768 to 800x600, but end up with around ~25fps with some serious low FPS peaks.
I have a Core i7 2.00GHz, NVIDIA GT540m, 4Go of RAM.
Consdering the minimum requirements written in the Steam market, I'm pretty sure I meet all of them (at least). I have a pretty decent computer. I can play CSGO everything at High (except the max Antialiasing) and SC2 Ã Ultra. I don't understand why I can't even play NS2 at low in a regular resolution.
Any tweaks or options I could optimize?
Thanks...

Try to set every option to low/off... maybe u will get more fps then.
I know dat feel... especially considering THIS IS AN IN-DOOR GAME!!
Generally when you go in-doors in any game your FPS is suppose to skyrocket.. :(
Also, this game uses up more RAM than WoW in a main city @Max settings... wut.
AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.8
Nvidia 9800+ GTX
1920x1200 res Laggy even with all eye candy turned off.
Better optimization please!
So do you get 40fps in a 5x5 fight situations or even more on the screen?
That is actually pretty good. If you are talking about 1v1 situation, than yeah - a bit too low.
Yeah agree. I noticed a 20-30 fps boost after overclocking my i7 from 3.5Ghz to 4.5Ghz. So I can only imagine what it would be like at 2Ghz.
Hopefully it's something they will work on as currently you need top of the range CPU.
That would make sense if I got great fps after I turned off the "rich" infestation, however it still lags even with that off.
We should not have to do any overclocking... especially when the recommended specs are met.
Again I'm not trying to do a herp derp oh im a customer and i spent X amount of dollars. It is that it is now a product and will be held to such scrutiny.
For example hive stealth drops my fps down to 1-5 while in combat, and just running in the area where these are drops my fps down to 10-20. Infestation also eats my fps and drops it down to 20-40. Its still barely playable but not really enjoyable to be honest.
Also dropping graphics settings dont really help much for me, i have identical fps ingame with 640x480 and 1920x1080 so it must be due to lack of optimizing. Only things that actually affect my fps are Shadows, Anti-aliasing and Ambient Occlusion. And even they wont increase the fps above the 60 ingame, unless i stare at non-infected walls.
I have:
NVIDIA GTX 570 (1310400 kB) at 742 MHz
QuadCore Intel Core i5-750, 2800 MHz (21 x 133)
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R
RAM 8187 MB (DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM)
SAMSUNG HD103SJ ATA Device (1000 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)
LOL, turn your res down, A LOT
Check nvidia control panel. Go to manage 3d settigns -> program -> add, find NS2.exe and add it. Then change videocard from integrated to nvidia.
You will still lag hard with 540m. But at 800x600, I think it will be playable, like 40-50 fps
I have the same specs, but with the sandy bridge version of that CPU and I can play native resolution (1366x768), High textures, AF on and everything else Off >30fps on 16 players servers even in late-game (I haven't tried on bigger servers).

If I turn every thing to low (Except resolution) I can maybe hit at 110fps early in the game.
Needless to say I dislike playing with eye candy turned off and would rather like it if we had some more work done that was geared towards poor FPS.

IF you can afford a 120hz screen you can get a better card than GeForce GTX 560Ti :PPP j/k

"LOL." Obviously, you don't know how poorly optimized this game is and how GPU is almost a non-factor.
@1920x1200 with everything turned off I get rougly 25-45 average - so it's playable.
Using my HDTV as my monitor and dropping it down to 1360x768 will only boost my FPS by about 5... bringing my average to a steady 30+, even in Infestation/Big Fights.
Assuming you actually know anything about CPU and GPU, you would know dropping my Res should put all the calculations from the GPU onto my Overclock'd CPU.
Meaning MUCH higher FPS, but considering how CPU bound this game is, dropping my Res did almost nothing.

Wow, thanks. I usually check for that, but didn't for NS2. Now I can play fullscreen with settings at medium. Now it's time to get used to the gameplay. A lot different from NS1.
