me too, im forced to stop playing ns2 for the first time in over a year, the first time was the sound cutting off completely, now its internet getting "disconnected"
I will not be touching this game too much until a new patch comes out fixing this issue, so far i never had a problem with precaching
yeah same, i know its not on my internet, because my internet is working fine. im not sure if its a bug that disconnected you from the server, or the server is crashing or just having a bug.
It has happened on quite a lot of servers. I can run around the map with that red icon flashing, and all players stand still in time, you can actually take some quite cool screenshots :P but its annoying as hell.
even more so that there is a recent played server, its like impossible to find the same damn server again :(
It's a problem with a server getting ddosed when it's at that 11/12 players point, or 15/16. Everyone wants to join an almost full game, few will join the 1/16 or the 3/12 game. It overloads and crashes the server. You can even tell this by typing retry in console, it loads back up really quickly into the freshly rebooted server. Not sure about the fix in process on this yet. It seems that it only happens on the NS pubic servers too, so best suggestion is to avoid those in favor of community servers.
just finished played an ALL in server, not a problem, are you saying that the 16 player UWE server is running 3 games of 16 players at once or something?
Also, if you are a Sky customer, it is posible Sky have a rolled out a firmware update for your modem/router than stops you connecting. Let me know if this helps.

Can you explain what the problem was? Never had a weird problem like this before and the video didn't really explain what the issue was. I have recently just installed a firmware update (well, it was about two months ago).
EDIT: Found an explanation here. Thanks again!
I tried that plenty of times and i cant get past the cmd command when i type (Telnet -insert ip- tells me ###### about not being able to connect and 23, i tried opening those ports but nope chuck testa.

Some of these Thomson routers don't allow Telnet access. It's really, really bad. Thankfully mine is an older one I think.
Here's something that might work. When you connect to a server and get the red symbol, open up your console and look for the IP address of the server. Then when you disconnect, type 'connect 81.19.212.190' (whatever IP address you're trying). Or simply 'retry'. If you get an authentication error just keep trying until it works. This will avoid joining through the server browser. Just before I applied the router fix this seemed to work for me, and it now makes sense with the explanation I linked to.

QUOTE

When the games grab the server list initially (which is set through Steam rather than the games) it uses these ports, which is why if you join through your Friends list or through the Favourites section of the game it avoids the problem.

It'll be annoying to have to do this every time, but at least you'll be able to play.
EDIT: Actually, even easier would be to try using this custom server browser instead: http://hypernovadesign.co.uk/nanogrid/
EDIT 2: Found another workaround here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/4920/discuss...950181827464155

Just played a couple full games.

I've been having fine gameplay with no connection / ping issues from build 190 to 226.
Since 227 (1.0) i get this error.
I have a feeling its related to the precache problem, or how the game loads up the assets, its not being performed efficiently and causing massive lag spikes or something.
Id wait till the precache update comes out this evening to see if that lowers the reoccurance of this evil icon.
Trouble is id prefer a solution to do this fix so it fixes other games and not just half arsed fix for this one game, i hate this i get bugs in games like killing floor, this and a few others, mainly unreal games most of time
dvide -> thank you so much for the retry advice. I had been trying to retry but I got the authentication error, so I didnt try again. now I tried to do it after I got that one and I'm in without getting DC'ed :) thumbs up man
I don't get this often, but it does occur once in a while. In addition, I seem to be experiencing A LOT more rubber-banding and general sluggishness since release, despite my FPS being stable.
