What is this, I don't even...
-mod and custom map support?
-server browser that shows pings, a server build for the community, rcon tools (or whatever it's called these days)
-dev console
-no leveling up or other silly grind?
-that awesome take me back to 90s video games music?
-23 euros and on steam?
-your own engine with unique look, great image quality, raw mouse input option, mouse acceleration off by default?
-reviving Natural selection?
-A spectator mode that almost puts dota2 to shame?
-not a whisper of DLC?
What alternate dimension portal did you guys crawl out of where pc gaming never stopped being the most awesome thing in the world!
Right now I don't care about any bollox like possible balance gripes or frustrations or even bugs that I might encounter as I keep playing, I just can't frigging believe that you guys did all this and that it exists and that it is real and...
You made a jaded 'old' gamer a happy man, and you should be proud of yourselves for carrying the PC community banner.
No matter what happens, hold your heads high, you did good.

The more people, the more mods, maps and epic gamemodes there will be :)
Impressive huh!
I agree on all these points but the server browser still needs a lot of work (UWE already know this however).

QUOTE

This is where my agreement with you drops to the floor. It's one thing to make the game potentially imbalanced beyond necessity in order to allow unlockable items for leveling up your character. However, a leveling system may greatly enhance the incentive to play. In my opinion, minor cosmetic unlockables would make this game a much better experience in the long run.

I am tentative on something like this. I'd prefer the game without but if it does make it in it should be mostly for stat tracking and if there are unlocks they should be purely cosmetic. This type of gameplay doesn't work well with the leveling systems you see in most modern games

QUOTE

The music is great. I can't argue with that.

23 euros is far too cheap for this game. This is one of the few games I would actually not mind even in the slightest to pay 60 euros for. It's fantastic. It being on steam only makes it better seeing as how I like to keep as many of my games as possible in one place.

UWE motto is to unite the world through play, and really the pricepoint plays right into that, it expands the potential demographic to people who could otherwise not afford it. I think it is a great move to help move to build a large and vibrant community to play the game.

QUOTE

In my opinion the engine looks above average and has great control response. However, because of it's ridiculously bad optimization I still consider it to be one of the worst modern engines I've ever interacted with. I consider it to be on par with ArmA 2's engine.

I never played the original game but this game is amazing so I too am very happy they got around to developing a sequel.

Although I've spectated quite a lot of games in Dota 2 I've yet to spectate a single one in NS2.

If it wasn't for the existence of the mod API, I'm pretty sure they would go the DLC route.

The spectator system is community made by Huze, Dghelneshi and Rantology. They did a fantastic job on it and took input from all across the board. Huze is still actively developing it and it can only get better with time. The mod API and what has come out of it once again goes back to their motto. It opens up the game to community made game modes which can help bring new people in and keep them playing. It is also a throwback to their humble beginnings as an HL1 mod on the GldSrc engine.
UWE have done something wonderful here and I was glad to donate my money back when pre-orders first began for the special edition. I have no doubt they can continue to optimize the engine so more people can enjoy it and that they can and will continue to bring us new content, bugfixes and SDK updates.
Aw but then the title no longer makes sense.
Anyhow, been playing this almost non stop for two days and in that time I've only come to love it more.
Most rewarding team play ever.
ArmA 2 doesn't have a bad engine. It does much more than you usually are aware off. Dynamic reacting and coordinating AI, Bullet Physics, 1 million world objects, a good netcode, up to 100x100 squarekilometer maps, good graphics.
Ugh, I just dislocated my shoulder trying to follow your suggestion :(
But thanks for the kind words :)
