It hasn't been a year, and it's already nostalgia for me.
Remember when alien hitboxes where so buggy you couldn't kill any?
Remember the chubby rifle model?
Remember when powernode blackouts where actual permanent blackouts?
Remember when only macs could build or repair things? You had to escort and defend them to get the power back up in a room?
Remember when drifters would transform into structures?
Remember that insanely OP grenade launcher rifle attachment?
Remember when flamethrowers used to burn through any solid objects?
Remember the initial implementation of DI? Remember how hard it was to find and destroy it as marines? xD
Remember Rockdown? I kinda miss it, hope the rooms get recycled in future maps atleast.
Remember when aliens would rush around the map at the start destroying every single powernode?
Remember when gorge would have to cyst up walls to place hydras? remember when hydras where powerful and could be spammed with no cap?
Remember when gorges had no placement range? my god you had to climb to place ceiling hydras.
Remember the original instant teleport blink mechanic? god that was disorientating as fade and terrifying as marines....
Remember the alien melee + armor upgrades that where synonymous with marine damage + armor upgrades? that was so redundant xD
Man, I could keep going... Thanks for the trippy alpha and beta adventure, looking back at everything it's quite funny to me. Strategies and gameplay have changed so much since then.

I've hated the 'flying blink' since they introduced it as a ###### cop-out in NS1.
The lighting in those pictures is much better than what we have now.
Escorting MACs sounds pretty good to me, as well as the power nodes being destroyed and rooms being dark (maybe not black, but still).
For some more pics.
Remember the bug that would cause you to run on your side.

Lolz... Alien hitboxes...
Lolz Grenade LMG ftw....
Or how any number of hydras would reduce the server to unplayable performance.
What aboot the secondary pistol fire with the laser sight.
Bilebomb on lerks...

Ah.... when marines were turtling and refusing to die, we could just spam hydras until the server crashed or they became unable to aim. :D

The flying blink is the only implementation that works reasonably and doesn't make the player puke or get stuck in walls.
Not to mention it features auto aim, and that's terrible console garbage.
NPC escorting missions? Good? As a core gameplay mechanic? Pffhahahaha.

remember when buildings built like 3 feet off the ground and just floated?
remember junction?
remember shotgun spikes and sniper rifle lerk?
remember when the game stuttered once every second and everyone was all pissed off about it?
remember when arcs used to like 2-shot hives and had room-wide aoe?
oh yeah, and remember when you could run into your own grenade from the GL and have it bounce off/explode in your face?
Remember Frenzy Fades?
remember insane speeds climbing ladders then shooting off the top of them?
Mmm Death Lasers that went through walls.
I still feel a little pang of joy when I walk up to an armoury and everything just works the way it should.
In a year I expect I'll be reading something like e.g.:
"remember when crags, shades and shifts were tied to upgrades and built by the kham instead of being battle support/utility structures built by the gorge?"
"Remember when skulks were big, slow and had to bounce off of walls with an unreliable/unpredictable speed boost and rely on poor hitreg to survive?"
"Remember when marines could hardly jump?"
"Remember random starting points right next to each other? Remember marines starting in <terrible techpoint> on <map>?"
"Remember when whips and turrets were just a useless res sink for when you were swimming in cash?"
"Remember when spit shot one projectile at a time instead of a hose-like continous stream of green goo?"
"Remember all those annoying vision obstructing attacks like spores?"

on old tram
Phantom machine gun sounds.
Shooting a still skulk forever and doing no damage.
Two crags next to each other = indestructible.
Whips whacking back grenades in the marine's face.
3 hydras enough to cause servers to crash.
Hydra farms.
Fade teleport ability.
Marines catching fire

<b>This has never been fixed >.></b>
It's not an NPC, it's controlled by the commander. It also is much more limited as a combat unit and thus protecting it becomes a focal point for marine / commander coordination. Finally, once the MAC is doing its thing, what's the difference between you guarding a player who's building and a MAC that's building?
Maybe you didn't notice but actual marine infantry gameplay is currently about as deep as an oil stain.
make a huge list of what changed.

I was just wondering if there could be a list of stuff that was tested / cut / changed / mentioned, and why. For example, apparently they said webs wouldn't be coming back, because it was "too easy to counter".
