Hey,
i am just wondering, why NS2 actually is just "like" a remake of NS1 (i still love it) but i expected a bit more new content.
Like new Weapons, new Classes, Abilities and so on.
Sure, NS2 is a greate game, and i do not want to disrespect it, but what do you guys think of adding some new content to the game?

NS2 was made to be a stand alone game of NS1 which was a hl mod.
-Alien Comm
-Power Node system
-Tech point system
-Separating P.res and T.res and buying your own stuff
-Dynamic infestation and Cysts
-New active abilities for each chamber that the comm enables
-Whips
-Clogs
-Better skulk wall sticking, in NS1 it was a nightmare to walk on cielings with a lot of complex geometry
-Gorge belly slide
-Lerk roosting
-Fade shadow step
-Exos
-MACs
-ARCs
Reminds me of some RTS casuals who think SC2 is a direct port of SC1/BW balance wise when they changed a lot of things aspects of each race for the better.
Morale of the story: Don't reinvent the wheel, improve upon it.
To be honest I felt like I was playing the first multiplayer LAN version of the Alien vs Predator games.
You run around as marine and spray'n'pray on stuff that moves.
Or you try to be sneaky with an alien or just run down stuff since you oneshot them by simply touching them.
That's all it offers. Sure, there is the commander thing, but oh well.. that's a side of the game that 7 out of 8 players on the team are not going to experience each fight anyhow.
So what is so awesome? I dunno. While I love AvP games I just don't see NS2 really delivering.
Ontop of that there is really few choices in both weapons and the alien evolve system.
Overall impression... not really worth the cash.
You're correct about the AvP theme, but if you're not seeing the game's depth and strategy (even if you don't particularly end up liking it) then you're not looking hard enough.
You ungrateful ######.

That's all opinion. I like the strategy in NS with the asymmetric teams, rather than predator vs predator deathmatches.

That's not playing the game...that's literally jumping in a random game and treating it like a deathmatch, which is not what NS is at all.

While you are free to pass judgement on a reply and label it to be a troll in an attempt to defend a game you enjoy, it's not.
It's my quick reply on first impression which relates to the point about there being no new (and not really a lot for starters) content in the game.
Majority of gameplay is spray and pray down hallways, in between running to whatever commander wants to have built.
Like I said, quite underwhelmed once I started playing the game. Certainly needs more to be interesting in the long-term.

lol the OP is talking about NS1 vs NS2, not the 'herp-derp I want AvP deathmatch'.
To the OP, there is a fair amount of new stuff. Mostly its on the aliens side, with structures and abilities rooted in the new alien commander. And guess what? Some people want less changes from NS1, so UWE cannot please everyone.
I was expecting big changes in how aliens were handled and increased depth in the marine gameplay, which is the important stuff where new content and changes are felt, and that's all missing. Alien upgrade system is still daft, marines are still simple.
The power / infestation system had some potential but they kind of blew it.
I won't even go into the 'cut content' and 'stuff missing from NS1' that, in my eyes, meant NS2 ended up offering less than NS1.
Saying that Gorge drifting is 'new content' is kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel. That's like saying the skulk wall jumping is new content, when it's just an extension of something of a bug.

Sounds like you got rolled a few rounds and got frustrated. Not unexpected with all the rookies running around.
Were you expecting every marine to be his own comm, dropping what he feels like where he wants?
Complete gun customization with hundreds of guns with silencers and, iron sights and laser sights ala CoD? Unlockable TF2 hats?
And comparing NS to AvP is like comparing Starcraft to Counter-strike.
Let's not forget how much of a disaster AvP3 was, oh boy, dead community in 3 months.

So actual new movement features like belly slide, lerk roosting and shadowstep don't count because of some arbitrary rule?
But turning HA+HMG into a single entity, the Exo, still counts as a "devastating loss"?
Cool double standard you have there, entitled much?
What didn't come over from NS:1
Acid rocket
Metabolism
Web
Hive teleportation
Catalyst
HMG
Heavy armour that could equip anygun
Scent of fear
Hand grenades
primal scream
RT electrify..
