2) How does it look DirectX vs. OpenGL? Same problem with both API's?
3) Does your video card manufacturer have an updated Firmware version that you could download and update? If Vivo is your Manufacturer, have you looked at ATI's site for a reference driver for the 7500 chipset?
4) What version of DirectX are you using... and with what Operating Environment (e.g. Windows 98SE, Windows XP Home, etc...).
2) I dont really understand what you are talking about here
3) I have installed the latest drivers but the seem to make it worse in a way, but are drivers and firmwaer diffrent or the same
4) im using Windows 98se and i have x 8.1
Once you've launched Natural-Selection there is an option for "Configuration" or something similar. Then under that there should be some options for configuring your video. One of the sub-menu's allows you to set "OpenGL" or "DirectX" or "Software". I'm under the assumption you're running with OpenGL.
First try to switch to DirectX and click Done (or okay). If it was on DirectX then try to switch to OpenGL. Basically you'll want to enter the game and see if the problem is happening with both or just one of the two API's (OpenGL or DirextX). If you see this problem with both DirectX and OpenGL, you should then try the option for "Software" to see if it's still happening. Let me know either way.
Just for your reference... OpenGL and DirectX are 3d API's (Application Porgramming Interface). Half-Life supports both of these API's, but you can only be using one or the other at a time (it also supports software rendering, but it's not a true 3d API). Video chipset/card manufacturers are responsible for making their video cards (and drivers) compatible with the OpenGL and DirectX .... but when it comes to OpenGL they typically won't implement the entire API (usually because it's not needed except for the professional 10k video cards). It's my understanding they only use a subset of the entire API (so you never know what you're going to get from different vendors). Please note that this is from a friend who's done Video Game Development on PC's and XBox... so it's second hand information, I've never personally developed any software that used OpenGL or DirectX. I'm sure there's someone who knows more about 3D API's around here that might be able to clarify this more for you (and me I guess).
1) Launch Natural Selection
2) Select "Config"
3) Select "Video"
4) Select "Video Modes"
If you choose OpenGL, just leave it to the "Default" setting and then click OK. Should work fine.

thanks for the info.. it got mine to work...
1) Launch Natural Selection
2) Select "Config"
3) Select "Video"
4) Select "Video Modes"
in your case, it will show that it is using OPENGL, what you will need to do is change it to DIRECT 3D.
once done, click on apply to save the settings and this will fix the problem...
hope this helps
