<div class="IPBDescription">A bug fix and some additions that would be nice to see</div>To the developers, nice work so far. I noticed that the in game twitter feed was telling me to leave feedback, so here we go . . .
<u>Bug fixes</u>
<ul><li>Units sometimes get stuck in terrain. As a temporary solution, players should be allowed to suicide by bringing up the buy/evolve menu. (For humans, this button would only bring up suicide option.) Players would suicide after a 10 second countdown. (This countdown should be able to be cancelled in the same way in case the player for some reason changes their mind halfway through the countdown.)
[EDIT:] Thank you to Guspaz who told me about the suicide command. I would still like to see a button option however, it would be good for new players like myself and others. And it's a bit more "polished."</li></ul>
<u>Additions</u>
<ul><li>When favorites box is selected, only favorite servers are pinged. This gives a much faster server refresh time for favorite servers.
</li><li><u>Squads and squad voice:</u> Ability to make a squad in game. A squad is a group of up to four players that see each other as green arrows on the map screen. They also have a separate button for "squad voice" which only transmits to squad members. This addition enhances teamwork by making sure that combat related squad chatter doesn't flood the global voice, which is used for talking to the commander and other players outside the squad.
</li><li>When only 1 person is in a server, the game will start after 20 seconds. This allows that one person to idle in a server and practice being a commander. Doing this helps to get public games started, and someone can be practicing how to command while waiting for a server to get that second person needed to start filling it up.
</li><li>Commander research tree. If the "buy" button is pressed when commanding, it shows up a tree menu of every available upgrade and ability that can be researched, and how to research them. This also shows which items have been researched, which are currently being researched, and which have yet to be researched.
</li><li><u>Commander controllable unit icons:</u> A direct copy of the icon system used in Company of Heroes. Units controllable by the commander can be selected by pressing a button on the commander GUI. It displays icons of all the units when moused over. Commander controllable units can be assigned a number by pressing "shift + number". As in Company of Heroes, this creates a second numbered icon that is associated with the units in that group.
</li><li>Weapons with zero value do not drop on the ground at an armory. For example: when buying a shotgun at armory, assault rifle will not drop onto the ground as it is a "zero value" weapon.</li></ul>
<u>Additional note about the squad addition:</u>
This could be done without adding a new menu, by simply having a "squad" button/icon in the score menu, to the right of each player name on your team. This doesn't actually have to say "squad", it could just be an icon, perhaps looking like two people side by side. Currently, you can use the mouse to select "mute" speaker icon in this menu; This new button would be selected the same way, so the functionality is already in the game.
By clicking on this "squad" icon, you would invite another person to the same squad as you. When that person looks at their scoreboard, instead of having the default icon, they would have a yellow icon, indicating they have been invited to a squad. Clicking on this would put them in the squad, and the icon would go green. All the other people that are in the same squad would also have a green icon, letting the player know who is in their squad.
To not join the squad, a player would simply ignore the yellow icon in the score menu, and the invite would time out after 45 seconds. A max 3 other icons could be selected when inviting people to your squad, with a max of 4 in a squad.
You would not be able to kick someone from a squad, but you are able to leave at any time by clicking on the green squad icon, which would turn the squad icon white and have you leave the squad.

Thank you, good to know. Getting stuck in terrain was getting to be a hassle. Not that it happened too much.
If there isn't even a timer on suicide this way, then I suppose there doesn't need to be one for the option I suggested. I was just thinking that it might be a balance issue if you allowed people to kill themselves instantly.
Anybody who suicides is going to eat up time in the spawn queue, so there's a cost associated.
Also . . . no one has any comments about the ability to make squads. Is this something that only I think would be good? I'm pretty sure it would help a lot in making pub games better, as you wouldn't have to use something like teamspeak to constantly talk with your buddies while you try to do an objective. Spamming everything you do over the global chat isn't really a good alternative.
i don't like the squad idea because it's beneficial for the entire team to know what you're doing... and there's certainly no need to split comms any more than necessary. imo it only really makes sense in mass player servers, to prevent a total clusterf*** of comms - same as games like battlefield etc.
if you want a private chat with your buddies, what exactly is wrong with using teamspeak, mumble, ventrilo or skype etc? don't isolate yourself from other players on the server, that's not cool.
I would like to be able to say things like "I will cover the vent while you repair" or "I'm in trouble, need some help over this side" without clogging up the global voice. Everyone on our team doesn't need to know I am looking at an airvent, only the people in the room with me. As I constantly talk during combat to help out my team mates, I can't use global chat without talking too much.
I've tried playing without teamspeak, simply using the in game voice, and it means that I end up talking much less than I would like to the members around me. I want to be talking during a fight. I can't constantly chatter and improve combat like I do in a game like Battlefield, simply because if is distracting to the 70% of players on my team who are not in that location at the time.
(That said, I believe in Battlefield 2 they did have a similar system. There was a global chat that also let you talk to the commander, and a squad chat. It worked very well.)
Perhaps a better idea would be to have a "close range" chat button. This would only let people within a certain range hear you, for example the people in the same room or a single room over. That way you could spam this key in combat and not worry about interrupting the global chat. The sound could drop off as you get outside a certain range, so that team mates on the other side of the map involved in a different fight don't have to hear you.
However I'm not sure how easy this would be to implement, with the squad system probably being easier.
