Skulk useless?

I hear a lot about skulk being useless late-game and such, WELL THEY AREN'T!

Skulks indeed aren't great tankers or such, but they are excellent scouts and in the hands of a skilled person they can take down enemies and structures effectively.

Example: My friend was starting to evolve in an onos, but we suddenly hear in the next room the enemy (2 EXO's w. Dual Miniguns and 2 marines with jetpacks) so my friend was afraid that he was going to be killed while still evolving, as he still had to evolve 50%. So i rushed in there ALONE, and just kept jumping, biting, and running around till my friend evolved, sadly he came too late, but i did hold them of for my friend to evolve.

So, do you guys have any stories about awesome skulk stuff? :-)

they aren't useless, they are only greatly underpowered to a3 w3 marines with jetpacks and shotguns wich can oneshot them, but in early game i think skulks and marines are nearly equally powerful, that's why you need higher lifeforms in lategame.

That problem could have been solved with nutrient mist and if you gorged you could have just bile bombed the exo while healing the onos. Instead you only delayed the exo and now the onos has to take on at least 1 exo and some marines alone. Don't really see that as being a great success. There really isn't any reason to be a skulk late game unless you have no resources. If you like the speed just be a lerk, it's basically the same but you can fly, have more health, and do more damage.

Yea aliens get different lifeforms. But guess what, one of them kicks the bucket and you are back to a skulk. Base marine with w3a3 is already really good and the best part it is cheap. Not to mention instant delicious spawn. Brb evolving a skulk every time I die after waiting 12 seconds and then additional time for the upgrades. No way your expensive lifeform gets recycled. An besides fade and lurks are not that great. So 30 resources for a lurk to not even match a no cost w3a3 marine? I mean you can barely damage them. Meanwhile if you died as a marine with a GL another marine can pick it up and if you are fast enough you can reach it as well depending on where you died and if there are nearby phase-gates. You can also pick up other weapons from fallen teammates or buy another cheap one for like 25 resources? Late game only Onos are useful. Bah I try to keep going aliens but it becomes less and less fun with marines being stacked in almost every game. But the devs are really being thickheaded about the skulk and the other useless alien lifeforms except the Onos. And we all know what happens when devs do that instead of listening to the same issues the community keeps repeating. Oh well

If your mindset is to be expendable and just run in and die, you're not doing well as it is.

I'd sacrifice my life to kill anything worth more than me in Res, running into 3 skulks to kill that fleeing Onos is worth the risk. Same apply for most Skulks against Exos or such.

But then they would have come in, and destroyed the egg as it was still evolving, i hold them off and then the onos had time to charge in, the onos could take them on since he ook them by surprise and our whole team arrived by that time... and i would had to evolve to gorge first too... My tactic worked great and we took them down, so what you complaining about?

Skulks are useful additions when fighting against exos. Skulks, due to their relatively small size can rush into a hallwal with exos and perhaps take out the backup grenader or welders while an onos draws fire. If you go into that hallway as anything else you are much more of a target, even with an onos wrecking their front line.

I have taken down plenty of exos late game like this, just co-ordinate with your team ever so slightly and you can still be of good use lategame as a skulk.

Not to mention they're still one of the the best harass units against builings while you wait to res up.

You forget the average pub commander still doesn't know they have Nutrient Mist... or I just get unlucky all the time. Also I understood the situation the way that he wanted to delay the exo because it was literally right around the corner. Gorge still takes a little while to evolve. Let's just leave the location of the mutation place for an onos in this scenario out of the equasion. (never go onos where you can be shot easily kids)

^This. Especially if you wish to wait for more res to go onos or anything else. Repeatedly going lerk can be draining on your pres if they have one proper shotgunner.
