help me flex my MSI muscles
Dear Squad 5/NS2 Community,

I'm a Microsoft Systems Engineer with a particular passion for Desktop Deployment and Management. I've started playing around with custom Windows 7 Logon Screens and the settings controlling these. You can find the first results of my endeavors here (ignore certificate warnings):

TheEmpireNS2Windows7LogonScreen-x64.msi

Thinking: "Done & Done", I sent a brief e-mail to Charlie asking for his blessing to release this. Within 2 minutes his reponse read: "Awesome. Please release it."

So now the fever's got me real good and I would like to capitalize on that. Windows Installer-wise, this little personal project has been peanuts, but insightful. More of its power can be utilized and I'd like to experiment with that.

The Windows 7 Logon User Interface being part of the Windows Theme framework, the next logical step is to create an actual Windows Aero .theme or set of .theme files to be installed and configured by my MSI tooling.

For the Logon Screen as well as the Installer bitmaps, I used whatever I could find in the Press Kit. However, I ain't no artist and I think the NS2 community deserves better than a quick 'n dirty copy/paste job.

If you'd like to collaborate with me on this, I'd love to see your input. It's a Windows 7 Logon Screen today, a Windows 7 Aero Theme tomorrow, and who knows - a Firefox/Winamp/Windows Media Player/Google Chrome/Whatever theme the day after... I could create a single installer that optionally installs... anything. The whole thing would be modifyable from the Programs and Features Control Panel applet. Uninstalling would remove all evidence.

I have background/logon templates for all supported screen resolutions, so all pre-requisites to make something awesome happen are in place.

Whaddaya say?
