Mini-guns

should be called micro guns
You now only get 3 and they cover a 50% radius. Any buildings completely block their ability to shoot. Their only real purpose is to stop skulks unless you cant get good coverage.

My idea would be to an upgrade in the battery that makes it 3x more durable, and the turrets get a little laser pointer on the top so you as a rine can easily see where they are shooting and the longer a gun shoots consecutively at single target the more damage it causes.

The we can actually use them a bit for onos/fade encounters when they take out the marine main base power node for a free and easy win.

The hidden purpose of sentries is to allow com to make mistakes. Instead of getting armslab, which he should always do at the disadvantage to the aliens, he now has the option to do something stupid like get turrets.

UWE truly hates turrets and other static defense.

In fact, it has been a design goal to make Marines use turrets only offensively.

Problem is 90% of Human commanders do not know how to use Cross Fire placement of turrets.

Watch what happens most commanders they will place turrets facing all in the same direction. meaning all a skulk or any alien has to do is get behind the turret battery and wa la. Easy disabling.

The Cross fire configuration makes this tactic impossible as the turrets guard every side by now facing inside toward the battery not outside away from the battery. But at the sentry battery.
Most commanders look at this and are like wow how stupid why guard the battery only?

Yet they fail to realise that the sentry guns can shoot past the battery while being able to guard it at the same time.
Simply place turrets in a triangle formation facing the objectives it needs to guard on the opposite side of the battery

So it would be something like [Door] [Sentry gun -->] Battery [<--- Sentry gun] and one sentry gun ontop facing down. Now place the conifuration in a triangle so it covers all sides. And your essentially creating a protected death ball.

The real question is, why are people getting sentries in the first place, unless there is a ton of extra res floating around. I spectated a game last night where the marine comm kept dropping sentries and sentry batteries one after another even though the aliens had onos and bile gorges. The sentries literally did nothing to slow the aliens down whatsoever.

That's 25 res each time. 50 res would at least drop a single-gun exo, or 5 jetpacks, or better spent on upgrades.
