I don't get this. Why is your Win8 PC's CPU only at 1.9ghz?
I don't know if that's a multicore processor or not but even if it is, I think you need at least 3Ghz according to these forums.
I have a 2.4Ghz quadcore from 2008 and game is playable enough. I was thinking of overclocking (apparently 3.2Ghz is possible for my processor) but I then thought why bother going to that hassle for the sake of one game that's poorly optimized.
For me 4GB generic ram is also sufficient to play.
I can't say anything for sure but I think it wouldn't run well enough to be enjoyable. Although the cpu is new it's rather a small one... great for office work but i suppose it couldn't cope with NS2. The graphics isn't very strong either but it could suffice - only just.

It's a laptop, you see it by the "M" in the CPU and GPU's name. And I don't recommend overclocking a laptop. IF it works it will cause more trouble than good. And the speed benefit will be minimal at best.

What's the hate for Windows 8?
Other then the Metro interface, which you really don't have to use or interact with much, Windows 8 is virtually faster in every way to Windows 7. Gaming is the same or faster too. It's been shown in many reviews so it's not just my anecdotal opinion.

I've had my fair share of gaming laptops. They sound great in theory but in actuality equate to large, heavy, battery sucking heat boxes. I think they are great for on the go work obviously. But not gaming. When I am using something mobile, it's going to be a media consumption device. At this point a tablet does everything I want from the couch or bed. Web browsing (IE this site), YouTube, email etc. When I want to get real work done I use a desktop.
And honestly when I had gaming laptops (I had a 7805u) I never took it anywhere to game. To cumbersome and battery draining. Laptops are fine I just don't prefer them for gaming. Especially when you take in the power they have + their potential for upgrade-ability. (Sorry, a new HD or more Ram doesn't count)

Yes Win8 is smoother/faster: but that's because they've removed so many features which provided functionality. Sure you can get them again from the MS AppStore, but you have to pay for stuff that came as standard till Win8. No thanks. Finally, I wouldn't mind any of this if the damned thing worked intuitively. I'm a pretty knowledgeable guy when it comes to computers, but I found it so hard to go from eg. the metro Mail app back to the start screen. Yeah, you can press start, but there's something so odd about having to do everything so differently after years of doing it one way (ie having mail as a window of outlook or whatever, as one of several windows open at the same time).
They should have separated out Win8 Metro and Win8 standard -- Metro is great for phones and tablets, but a disaster for desktops. I don't know what MS were thinking. Come January there are going to be a lot of people around the world demanding downgrades to Win7.
Dear Lord. This discussion has mutated into a war between laptops and desktops, not to mention a discussion about how much windows 8 sucks. If every performance thread that had these were locked, there would literally be zero threads with laptop users.
On the topic, OP won't be able to play with acceptable fps. The fact he has a laptop has less to do with it rather than the fact his cpu is only clocked at 1.9 ghz. All having laptops really mean is that A. You can't overclock it B. You have to think about higher end versions of laptop software if you want to find the part proportional to the tech in question found in a desktop C. You can't upgrade them
Might've missed a few things, but the point is arguing about them results in a completely arbitrary and brain dead conversation/flame war.
I am happy to report that running everything on low or turned off, except multicore rendering and verticle sync set to double buffered, resolution at 1366 x 768 running at 30 fps and sometimes 25 fps when a whole lot and I mean a whole lot is going on at once, 3 flamethrowers 2 grenade launchers fades blinking lurks sporing, all that, then it dips down to 25fps, but it stays a solid 40 - 50FPS the entire time playing otherwise. I am so pleased and happy. I bet I could play Mechwarrior Online and Dark Souls on it as well. Low settings, obviously.

OMG I'M DOING THAT!
On the topic, OP won't be able to play with acceptable fps. The fact he has a laptop has less to do with it rather than the fact his cpu is only clocked at 1.9 ghz. All having laptops really mean is that
A. You can't overclock it
B. You have to think about higher end versions of laptop software if you want to find the part proportional to the tech in question found in a desktop
C. You can't upgrade them
Might've missed a few things, but the point is arguing about them results in a completely arbitrary and brain dead conversation/flame war.
That is the laptop in question. Oh man...I broke a rule with the link probably. *sarcasm*
