1) when you die, your mouse controls the angle of view of some random person you are 3rd person viewing... what purpose does that serve?
How about instead of that wonky thing, you are allowed to move your mouse over the overlaid map and so you can hover over teammates / enemies who were close by to see there names. Often times the really good marines I will actively reprioritize my targets based on who was doing good, or to get a sense of who is in what area at the time i died.
2) server selection.. you can't group select a bunch of servers you are interested in and update them like steam, or half life 1. that was really useful. you couild also group up a selection of servers or ctrl click to add to an already existing selection of servers and do somethign with that group, like add to favorites. the current server selection is primitive
by comparison
3) tutorials are a bunch of youtube videos that begin with some guy saying welcome to another edition of NSHD, etc...
wtf.. a two page pictorial explanation for new comers and a one page pictorial explanation for NS1'ers does it all
4) No F1 or F2 for marines/aliens? F3 for random? what happened to that
5) say you have 50 RES and you are thinking of going fade. does Fade have blink? Oh wait you have to do something totally non-intuitive like hit the upgrades button, look for an icon above the thing you wnat to evolve , and examine that tooltip to see what ability has been researched for it .. isnt' there something better than this?
The UI for the "upgrade your alien" screen is HORRIBLE. this is just the most non-intuitive thing i've ever seen
small bug: fonts at lower resolution aren't scaling at server selection btw.

I'd actually like to go straight into the spiffy spectator view (with just your team's stats of course) so that you could see your tech tree and teammates health and stuff. This would help #5.

Harder to come up with than you think. Writing something that's just basics without delving into the caveats would drive me insane. The wiki would be a good place for this though (so it can evolve with all the future changes). Actually, the wiki should accessible from the same menu as the youtube videos.

Console -> j1 or j2. But yeah, this should be bound by default. I just kind of assumed that this was probably added because none of my binds since beta had changed.

I do think a bit of a clean up showing upgrades for the critter should be shown more clearly. I'd like it too if the comm's tech tree was visible for him (or visible in the same way as the map key) "COMM WE HAVE NO ADRENALINE" "Yes you do" "Nope" "Wait, we lost adrenaline? Oh crap, sorry, rebuilding it..."
Tutorials are sorely lacking, yes...

Actually, it's extremely easy. Two teams, marines aliens, flip thru lifeforms, flip through building functions, say "don't command until you have a lot of experience", fast-forward thru maps, show res nodes and explain res, done. 1 minute has passed.
It's just that nobody has made it. I would have done it if I could be arsed learning a video editing program.

Haha, yes it's not awfully good now that I think about it. Just noticing the upgrade you're supposed to take, and knowing you have to do it every time you spawn, it's not self-explanatory at all. :)
