Very low FPS?! (10-15 fps)

So i have been playing NS2 since a while.

But recently, around 1.0 release i think, my game got really bad fps.. i currently run the game with everything on OFF and texture to medium at 1980x1050 or 1600x900
my fps still dip in the 10-15 when there is alot of building, say aliens building mostly.

I dont remember the game being so bad fps wise.

I have a

Amd 1055T Thuban 6 core 2.8 ghz
8 gig of DDR3
GEforce 560TI 1 gig
Windows 7
Sound blaster audigy 2

should i expect bad fps like that? to be honest i have been playing since early alpha and beta and before release i remember fps to be ALOT better.

any ideas?

If you try to lower your resolution down and graphics it will hopefully at least get you playable fsp. I run the game on min settings and lowest resolution. Looks horrible and text on the screen gives you about 0 chance of hitting any thing as a marine but if it rasies your fps so you can play its better then not.

Try OCing your CPU and see if it makes a difference. 2.8ghz thuban is kind of quite an aging CPU nowadays, and probably equal to a 2.2ghz intel i5/i7, which unfortunately is somewhat underpowered for fluid NS2 gameplay right now.

    Make sure that:

    VSYNC is off
TEXTURE STREAMING is off (though possibly test ON, I've never heard of this helping anyone's FPS)
    MULTICORE RENDERING is on

This game eats CPU. Consider overclocking it if possible.

It does for me, I think. No stuttering because I have it on.

NS2 doesn't really use multiple cores properly, so even if you have 6 it shouldn't matter. I have 4 and NS2 uses 25% at most, although it does allocate to 4 cores. Not sure what goes on there.

Every single component of yours is better than mine, but you're running the game worse. It's probably a software issue.

A higher clock speed could help, but it's not going to double your FPS.

sounds like a gpu driver issue.

    Overclock your CPU.
    I have AMD 1055T at 3.8ghz and Radeon 7850.
My FPS never goes lower than 40.
And one more tip about settings, make Fullscreen resolution, not Fullscreeen windowed.

Aren't textures pre-cached when the map is loaded? Or is that what gets replaced by texture streaming?
