Can this please be something that gets fixed soon. I alt tab a lot between games and it really sucks having to relaunch the whole game.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Yeah I'm not sure when this started happening, but pre-release I could minimise and come back very pleasantly. Now... it always crashes.

You will never ever realistically use that much Ram. Unless you open every program you have installed and try and render out 4 different 4k videos and play some NS2 all at once..
Even 8GB is a lot. I have never breached 5GB and I'm not a casual user. Although I am about to get 16GB, but that's just because it's quad channel ram and you need 4 sticks for it to run in quad mode on a 2011 socket.

It's not bad to have 24 right now. Just a tiny bit too early.
16GB of RAM is $75-80 now, so there's really no point in only putting 8GB of RAM in a new high-performance machine. It's not hard to need more than 8GB of RAM; remember you need to leave spare room for caching.

Whenever it was fixed, it'd just brake again the next week. But okay, let me rephrase that given your information.
It's been this way on and off for atleast 1 year and 9 months.
Actually the game has had crashing issues since probably ~140s, they fixed it shortly before than then it broke around there, I cannot remember the exact build.
I can pretty much say Ive crashed almost every build by alt-tabbing since when developing mods I alt-tab alot between the game/notepad and such.
for me the huge fps drops (down to 5fps or second freezes) only occure if I move the mouse after alt-tabbing back into the game. is that also known of? i like to use my mouse while playing games, for aiming n stuff, you know?! :(

I reinstalled NS2 yesterday and I played with the default options, so full screen non windowed and I was able to tab out and back in relatively fast without any issues.
I do use windowed mode when it starts to bother me enough, but makes testing certain things more difficult than it should be because of FPS drops/random and sudden freezing I get.

It's 2012 and I still don't alt-tab, in any game. It's like the dread has seeped into my spine, "don't alt-tab man, yeah i know it looks like nothings changed, but you just lost 1 fps, also there's a memory error there somewhere, don't do it man, don't alt-tab..."

just sometimes when i minimize during the loading screen.
This. Everyone should be running dual monitors anyway, amiright?
Ontopic: Yea, that's crappy to those that do use Alt-Tab. Have faith that it will get fixed.
Like if 8gb wasn't enough...

Really? I haven't tried normal fullscreen for months. Gonna have to try this and hope alt tab isn't broken for me.
