Sentry Turrets Don't Kill Cysts?

I was messing around in a 1v1 game with a friend. I was Marine and he was Alien.
I was able to put sentry turrets in a room that he had cysts (obviously no infestation covering the area that I put them).
The sentrys would not attack the cysts but they would attack other alien buildings.
I'm pretty sure I saw the sentrys destroy a cyst that the alien commander had put down AFTER I already had sentrys in the area.
Is this working as intended?

Sounds like a small bug. AFAIK, sentries should target those. They may be the last things on the target priority list though. Try to repeat this case. If it crops up every time you test that pre-existing (before sentries are set up) cysts are not targeted, submit the bug.

Although, there may have been a change recently that i am unaware of.

They should target cysts, even ones there already. Are you sure they just weren't trying to kill the other structures first before targeting the cysts?

I'm pretty sure that's the way it is tho, as I placed some turrets in a cysted room and they eventually cleared it out.

I'll try it again tonight. When I did it the first time sentries had cleared all of the other buildings except the cysts. Then I pinged the room to discover that there were cysts and infestation still there.

    They do kill cysts.

I just tested this and my sentry was firing on cysts. Maybe there's a bug here, but I didn't see it.

    Charlies right, turrets are working
    HOWEVER..
Sometimes when placed in the correct spot, they wont be shot at. like right nexto a prop, or even right behind a structure you didnt see. was this cyst in the enemy base perchance? robolabs are known for causing pains in structure layouts GIVEN THEIR BLOODY SIZE! CHARLIE! MAKE CORY MAKE THEM SMALLER!

I've seen this happen on the odd occasion. I can only assume something in the map is throwing off the LOS of the sentry. Some maps have problems with cyst connections too where it will refuse to connect past certain points, although thats a different issue.

I was in explore mode yesterday, preparing for a scrim on summit.
    I didn't notice this issue.

I dropped a battery and tri-pack of turrets in flight control hive and they immediately took out 2 nearby cysts.
OP Are you sure the sentries can legitimately fire upon the cysts you're thinking of? They dont' seem to handle changes in elevation too well if that's what you're encountering?

I'm guessing it was because of the changes in elevation (although they were small). With so many people confirming that it is working, I will assume it was the area the turrets were in.

    Side Question:
What is the vertical axis for the turrets like? Lets say you put turrets on the cargo containers in Elevator Transfer on ns2_tram.
How far down can they shoot?

    i don't know. But you can do this to test;
start an explore mode - put a password on it.
go alien com, spam cysts all over the map in lots of elevation changes. Remember to leave space in your test rooms for your turrets.

Then F4 and go marine commander, place a robotic lab. Build 2-3 MACs. You can then build without having to run around yourself. You'll need to do it this way and have the macs build because if you try to do it yourself, you'll get to yuor test location, build the battery and then realise you have go all the way back to a chair to place the sentries lol
