ok.. I see your point... But as the post says its a "very rough layout"... The paths leading to the different hives will be much smaller then they apear in the map, with other conduits etc leading in to them...

I didnt have much time to throw it together, so its pretty incomplete...
for example, the big areas (such as resivoir hive) that you see in the map will be broken down in to smaller rooms, and hallways, tunnels etc...
ok look im not an idiot.. i wouldnt make a map where you could siege 3 hives from one location.. if your not going to be constructive then dont bother posting.

'babs', are you READING anything? It seems you're trying to be harsh on poor old Lazerus, who, because his pic was too basic, DELETED the entire design because everyone was being a jerk about it.

Anyways, to CLARIFY things, I <i>think</i> the design pic that Lazerus posted was, as it is said in the thread description 'a very rough layout'. Lazerus said a few posts back that the design didn't really illustrate much (except the sections of the map), and didn't show actual ROOMS. Everyone, unfortunately, took the design literally, and Lazerus got sad and deleted it. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Make all 3 hives a long distance from the mall and that solves the general seige location. Add some rooms for flavor and a bit more strategic impact for Kharaa defenses between the mall and resevoir as well, so you don't end up with a long hall between the 2.
And if the marines are supposed to enter by shuttle, make it look kinda like the CC is in the cockpit and there is an airlock between the shuttle and the rest of the station/ship/whatever. Might also make sense to take out the alternative exit from the marines if they are actually entering from some kind of attachment vehicle. I know these things don't really matter, but atmosphere is what makes the original maps so much fun to play.
i should have added that this map is huge.. it doesnt really look it from the pic, but there are about 1000 units between each main area...
my goal is to make a large map that doesnt lag, and also not too large that marines have a disatvantage. (since skulks are faster)
as for the comments about the shuttle.. I have already created a lot of the **obscenity** pit.. its really dark (only light by computer terminals etc... )
one exit is a narrow curving hallway leading to the reception area.. the other is one floor down in the shuttle, which is to load the cargo off of the shuttle..
i may also add a 3rd entrence/exit through some fuel line or somthing connecting the shuttle to the space station...
i dont want the marines to be able to turttle at all...
and dont worry there will be no long hallways <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'm assuming the layout is still pretty 'rough', but I want to make sure you're keeping in mind that the actual Hive rooms don't have to be that big...
