About:

After running two successful tournament with twelve and eight teams on the 18th of November we here at the subreddit r/ns2pugs and r/ns2 decided we wanted to host a second tournament and invite everyone in the Natural Selection 2 community to join us. The tournament will be friendly 8 vs. 8, best of 3. Players will sign up individually and be placed randomly on teams as to avoid skill stacking teams.

Event Info:

- This Tournament will take place on December 7th and 8th, this Friday and Saturday. On Friday the tournament will start at 9 PM EST to account for West coast players getting home from what not. On Saturday the second part of the tournament will begin at 6 pm EST.
- This tournament will take place in the NA servers, although we aren't barring EU or Oceania players from this tournament you will have to deal with the higher latency from NA servers. Sorry for the inconvenience guys.
- Signups will be done by individuals, this is a casual tournament and not a team tournament. When you sign up you will be placed on a team based on your skill level so that all teams are relatively even.
- When you signup you will select a skill level on the form and teams will be weighted so all teams are relatively even.
- The tournament will be a best of 3, single elimination bracket styled tournament.
- Teams will be made up of 8 players, this is an 8 v 8 tournament.
- Due to our limited servers and not wanting to go over time, we are limiting this to 16 teams, first come first serve!
- You will be given 10 minute breaks inbetween rounds to go to the bathroom, grab drinks, whatever you need. But we will not be having 30 minute long breaks inbetween rounds.
- We will be using Docking, Tram, and Summit as our primary maps and Veil will be the 3rd game tie breaking map.

Match Protocol:

Out of Game:
- Show up and get on mumble an hour before the tournament starts! That means on Friday get on mumble at 8 PM EST and on Saturday get on mumble at 5 PM EST
- Old Greg will message each commander through Steam with the server they are assigned to.
- Do not join a server if your team is not assigned to it!
In Game:
- Both teams will join the server and stay in the ready room
- The first round map will be Docking, the second will be Tram, and the third/finals will be Summit. The third game tie breaking map will be Veil. If we have more then 3 rounds then we will recycle maps.
- The referee will switch the server to the correct map.
- The team captains will walk into the "Random" and that will be their team for the first game, the teams will switch sides for the second game. If a third round is needed then the teams captains will walk into random again to decide what side they play.
- When both commanders have typed "Ready" in chat, the referee will use the sv_reset command to officially start the match.
- When a team has won two matches the referee will message me with the score.
Drop-outs and No-shows
- If you are missing somebody from your team and have not heard from them by the time the tournament starts message Old Greg on steam and I will get a replacement player for you.
- If you find that you cannot make it to the tournament for whatever reason message Old Greg on steam ASAP.

Also, Greg lets me cuddle afterwards.
You know I never noticed that haha, and we've just been copy pasting the mumble info for the past 3 tournament announcements so its always been there.
Best wishes- Daniel
Yeah that would be my bad, didn't notice it when I wrote the first tourney info post.
We decided to put it in general chat because we weren't looking to attract the competitive crowd with this tournament, we wanted the more casual players (Obviously competitive players are still allowed). Not to mention we felt that in the general discussion section of the forums we would get more exposure.
Also! We only have 12 more slots! Hurry up and signup before we fill up.
Fixed!
If I could make some suggestions, the skill system didn't work out very well, there were a lot of discrepancies between what people wrote as their skill and the actual skill. It's bad enough that's it's better off just randomizing it.
Interesting...

It actually worked out pretty well. 6v6 works for highly coordinated teams and all that but this was more of just a semi-organized pug. I had fun casting it and everyone who played in it that I talked to enjoyed themselves.
Thanks again for casting Cake!
If anyone wants a gem from when he was casting the tournament here you are.
Anyways, if anyone wants to stop by today at 6:00 PM we are organizing some pugs with a lot of the players we had last night. Look forward to seeing you guys out there!
