NS2 has a lot less marketing-eyecandy compared to other games but offers more depth. In case you didn't notice, professional reviewers prefer rating games based on eyecandy and free playstations they get for promoting certain games. NS is quite rough around the edges and this is what turns off some of the new folks. If i would be mean, i could say ns2 failed to appeal to a broader base of players, the reviews reflect that.
Eurogamer gave a 8/10. <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-11-19-natural-selection-2-review" target="_blank">http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-11-...ection-2-review</a>
While it's an ok review I really start to wonder about the obvious slackness of some gaming journalists. He calls a Skulk a Lurk and he never even once mentions the proper name of the aliens and instead keeps calling them "Swarm". How is anyone who spent more than five minutes with the game and maybe checked the forum once supposed to take a reviewer serious when he doesn't even get the basic nomenclature right? Reading this review just gives the impression he read some articles from other sources and wrote something up without ever getting into the game.

Considering they call themselves 'TruthMedia', I'm actually shocked at how many inaccuracies were in that NS1 review. I had to lol. :)
Reads a little underwhelming, tbh. But that's what I like about RPS, they give you an honest opinion how they feel, they admitt to being subjective. I just would have liked Jim Rossignol to love NS2, not just like it, because I love his reviews... Too bad.
Gamestar, one of Germany's biggest PC games magazine has finally released it's review: <a href="http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/natural-selection-2/test/natural_selection_2,45616,3007316.html" target="_blank">http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/natural-sele...16,3007316.html</a>
82/100
My rereview: While the score is decent, it's a very short and shallow review. Besides pathetic spelling and grammar, the game mechanics are explained very poorly. For example: "while marines basically play like marines in any other shooter, aliens demand some rethinking...". Ye, just feels like playing Quake... building as a marine isn't even mentioned once. Also: "[team res] in turn provides stationary turrets, better marine equipment or alien evolution upgrades.". Because - as we all know - sentries make pewpew and that's AWESOME and it really needs to be highlighted as THE thing that tres is build around gameplaywise. no mention of exos, onos, jetpacks, pg, obs...
All in all, yet another review from an influental mag that doesn't deliver. Lazy ######bags who call themselves journalists should be ashamed of themselves! They even praised the game for being innovative, for standing out of the stale FPS genre. And then they give credit to the game with such a half arsed review, just sad!

I only read game reviews for fun, most of the time these game review journalists don't know anything. Yeah, LET'S GO WITCH HUNT THEM! Find out where these guys live please ...
Gametrailers gave it a 8.7! A short review but better than nothing :) But it is kind of lame that they have used the footage from the Beta or something. Because that footage doesn't match up with how the game looks now.
Ok guys, we're over 80 on metacritic! 81 to be precise. Yet, when I checked the individual scores I noticed a mistake. Gamestar only gave 82 points, not 88 as it says on metacritic. Let's hope they won't find out, it evens out the GameSpot review a little...

Fine!
*puts the flamethrower back in the shed*
I can do game reviews too!

"80? Hmm, might be pretty good."
"79? Not gonna touch that ######."
"Added protection against speed hacking."
So that problem should be fixed (if not, report it, speedhacking is something that can be prevented serverside)
edit:
posted that in the wrong thread...

Seems mostly positive. The reviewer wants to like NS2.
