To my mind the biggest problem with this patch is that it came out of nowhere. Could we have notice of these patches? 233 came out right in the middle of our team practice and had us down for an hour. Not to mention the usual upset with server operators...
I seem to recall that the first patch after 1.0 release was released in beta through steam, perhaps in future this could be done here? So people can test drive the changes before committing to them?
New marine upgrade icons: I see what you guys are going for, but the "medal" markers look like downward arrows to me. That's the universal language for a debuff icon, the opposite of an upgrade.

hitreg is much better/much worse in this build. you can tell more of your bullets are hitting when your aim is dead center, but it means that you often get a lot of blood splatters and no dmg when you're aiming near the edge of a moving object.
I'm not liking this trend of not disclosing everything they change in the patchnotes, it's pretty insulting to the community that's helped them so much.

Once a week "Patch 233 Progress: Think we nailed down that twitch animation bug!" or "Patch 233 Progress: Working on some lighting particle issues to help end-game performance".
We don't need full descriptions, or some in-depth disclosure.... As the end user though, most of us are REALLY waiting for the next patch when we know it's coming. It just feels like we're in the dark, especially if we're limited to a prompted Q&A on an alternate information source than their new page. From a business-to-client point of view, it'd be wise to consider rolling out periodical main site updates to keep the client engaged on upcoming changes. It creates anticipation and excitement for your work and prepares users for "big" patches versus "small" ones which we waited an equal amount of time for.
Add a disclosure that not all upcoming patch changes will be addressed, your bases are covered and you're fine.
Did they turn fog back on permanently? Why do devs always do this? Why would you take away more options? Now it looks blurry. Sigh. They even know that their game runs terrible for most people and they still do this. I stopped playing CS:GO just because of PP and fog and now this. Ugh that dreaded fog .
So is atmospherics permanent? I love that effect! When optimization gets better, graphical detail like infestation (and the supposed atmospherics) should be on at all times. As if it isn't enough being able to turn off shadows and changing the games look completely.

Not that I don't appreciate things like that... but I work till 3:30pm in the US and I still have to miss the Q&A every week. I honestly just gave up watching it.
Saw a new patch and thought I'd hop in and see what was going on on the forums. Seeing so few people actually here expressing their displeasure at the lack of balance changes and what not actually worries me. The opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference...

QUOTE (Kallistrate @ Dec 10 2012, 09:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The chevrons make it look like military rank symbols (sergeant, etc). God I wish weapon upgrades and armor upgrades would change the look of your marines' as well as the fire rate and ammo size of the weapons, with visual and audio changes of course! It'd make the only 2 traditional weapons in the game less... familiar.

You should adapt. We've always wanted UWE to add more skill based mechanics and it seems like they're catching on.
But yea, nice patch UWE. Thanks for fixing the harvestor flinching issue!!
