What am I talking about?
You've clearly never seen a game where the Commander loses it:

I mean just look at that BS
People already spend a bunch of res to protect a node why not just let us upgrade it?
My thoughts are that you have an option for one of two upgrades and you can pick one of them
First one would be a straight up Electrify upgrade
People playing NS:1 know exactly what I'm talking about and this has been asked and suggested dozens of times already
Option 2 probably hasn't been
I'd be looking for a <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xvuzr6_gorge-spit-richochet_videogames" target="_blank">shield that reflects projectiles</a>
Direct hits from bile bomb would bounce off and explode on the floor dealing slightly less damage, but would protect against spikes and spit
Once again my suggestion would be for a Marine Commander to be able to pick one and if they want the other then it's no refund when they switch the tech
Nanoshield isn't reliable enough as you may not have enough res to shield and beacon
Nanoshield also rarely gets used because a comm might not get notified quickly enough if objects are being attacked all over the map
