I can't speak to any certainty here, but I think you only do the "really long, multiple loads" thing once. Just like the first time you loaded the game, something that probably slipped your mind since.
How about using one of the many different ways to control volume on a computer? Bloody scrooge.
What specifically was changed with Vortex? It seems to be an area effect for closest object to the Fade now?
Anyways, I never used Vortex because it's horribly ineffective but I never noticed that you have a 1 to 1.5 second delay after Vortex before you can Blink or Shadow Step, which is a horribly atrocious design feature on an already expensive, costly, situational, finicky ability for a class known to be a "hit and run" creature.

We had to cancel because spontaneously people couldn't connect because the client and server differed. And then the server we played on, couldn't be updated while people were waiting to play.
All I am asking for is the ability to choose when to update to 234, instead of being forced to do so. The first patch after 1.0 was perfect - I could even go back to the previous release if (when) killer bugs made the new build playable. I'm not sure why UWE has chosen to ignore this built-in system.
I can confirm that, but it happened to me in Build 233!
It was on an official europe UW server, so no admin could restart it... :-/
But it was not right after the mapchange, it started to malfunction in the middle of a game!

+1..though I think only a 'eject comm" really needs to be addressed. Not sure what other various ways you are talking about.
