how can i gather evidence to show that a player is hacking? i have more than reasonable evidence to show that a player is hacking and i wish to produce evidence to STOP this person from ruining my experience with a game I paid good money to play. I need an administrator to provide instructions about the process of putting CHEATING AT NS2 to an end.

The person you mentioned in a previous thread doesn't hack, he's just very good. If you have actual evidence (K:D is not evidence), take it up with the moderator of a server. UWE does not handle bans on community-run servers. If this took place on a UWE official server, then I suggest PMing a moderator.

how can i record evidence of him cheating? is there any means of showing that a person is hacking and can be banned? if not, then it undermines the entire game...........................................................................

As Flamingo said, this is not the place to air a grievance on a player or server. Just like every other game, there is no 100% sure way to determine a hacker from a good player so it's up to server admins to deal with as they see fit. NS2 has some anti-cheat methods like VAC and hash checking and admin tools for each server operator to use as they wish.

I am going to leave this topic open if people have better suggestions on how to deal with finding cheaters in general but I will lock it if it gets out of hand.

Someone asked if it was indeed Joe, and it was, we're all on Teamspeak.

Either way, if you want to try and get evidence, before you join the server type: record <DEMONAME> then join the server and spectate the player you believe to be cheating.

The only issue with this is that there's no first person spectator, so it's all done third person, and unless it is blatantly obvious, you won't get much evidence.

You stop posting accusation threads on the forums (not allowed) for one ;)

To answer your question. You record footage or demo and this is your "proof' using one of the programs in this thread: <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showtopic=122818" target="_blank">http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/in...howtopic=122818</a> but don't post them here

Now if you have actual links to working hacks or know about certain hacks that are available for NS2, please send off an email to tech-support@unknownworlds.com

I've put proof in quotations, because it isn't exactly 100% proof. Once more, we do not allowed accusation threads on these forums, so don't start those or post videos about "cheaters". As a matter of fact, since I don't feel like cleaning up your previous thread it will probably go *poof* magically instead after some inquiries with our almighty overlords...

Ok so just to be clear, there is no current approved process of finding cheaters/people using hacks in the game? if this true, does UW have any plans to introduce a formal system to report hackers?

I think this is what we need for people like the op:

No, witch hunts are so 15th century. The game has VAC support and if a hack is found the devs can have Valve add it to the list to check

As has been stated: UWE does not handle individual claims of hacking. Talk to server admins for that. If you have proof of any hacking tools or methods, please email tech-support@unknownworlds.com. This is the same as any other game out there. I am locking this thread now as very specific instructions have been provided.
