FPS slowly degrades over time, persists after game restart

<div class="IPBDescription">title</div>As the title says, as I play Natural Selection 2, my system slowly runs the game slower and slower, and it's isolated to this game. It takes generally two mid-length games for my frames to really start dipping, but it sucks that I'm in the mood to play for prolonged periods, and then this issue persists and I have to take a break for a couple of hours.
I've tried restarting the game after the dips happen, but I get into a session, and the frames just stay horrible. I generally run at 65 avg frames in game and 50-ish in HEAVY fights, but when this issue persists, I go nearly to slideshow speeds, with an average of 35 frames and a minimum of 15-20. At first I suspected it to be a memory leak issue, and I did notice that NS2 takes up a lot of resources, but I don't think that's the case since it persists after restarting the client.
I'm crossfiring two ATi Radeon 5750s.

I really enjoy this game, but it gets unplayable, and I'd really like some help.

Also, Strider, are you running a crossfire set up, just in case?
I've done this with slightly outdated drivers, and I'm doing it right now with the 12.11 Beta drivers. When I made the transition, my maximum frames skyrocketed, but the slowly degrading framerate issue still persisted. I monitor my temperature at all times, that's not an issue. Actually, this game doesn't make my rig get as hot as some other games. I've restarted my PC after playing and it made the game 'fresh' so to speak, and I could play without the framerate issue until about 1 hour+ of gameplay. The next time my frames start to dip, I'll restart Steam and the game client and report back with my findings.

I'm not on crossfire. I'm on a single XFX HD5770 12.11 beta drivers
Then this may be an issue with the HD 5000 series cards if it's not a memory leak. I can't be sure. If I recall correctly this issue was still a problem when I use only one of my two cards, so I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with crossfire.
