So I want to permanently get rid of those annoying and useless sounds, I think they are called ambient sounds (i.e., the fan sounds, random noises in-game, etcetc) but if I turn off "Music Volume" in-game it really does nothing for me. Any help on a permanent fix?

Step 1. Find said sound files Step 2. Replace with same size and format files of empty sound clips Step 3. ?????? Step 4. Profit
Yeah, just make some silent sound files of the same format that works and are of the same size. Then hope the consistency checks doesn't check anything beyond the physical size of the file, which I guess most serious consistency checks would.

I want to get rid of these annoying and useless things, textures I believe they are called. I like having my walls white, like at home. What files do I need to delete? Will pressing Alt+F4 help?

Yes. You'd have to find data that was close to silent and still hashed to the same value. Finding hash collisions in general is hard, finding a hash collision with certain data characteristics well good luck with that.
I haven't checked, but id be willing to bet sound files aren't consistency checked. So yeah, in all likelihood replacing the files *would* work on most servers.
Here's hoping this isn't possible. Games which doesn't consistency check everything result in some pretty dumb competitive advantages which work against immersive aspects of the game.
It's silly enough that FoV is a configurable option.

Setting infestation to "simple" as opposed to "complex" is already an immense advantage, not just in terms of performance but also in terms of gameplay. Same applies to the FoV setting and a couple of other things...
Good thing the competitive side of the game enjoyed so much attention, that clearly paid off! ;)

You can pretend this isn't cheating if you want, but it's no different from whitewashing your walls or using green skulks. Cheating is using an advantage that players shouldn't have that alters and gives an advantage to the person cheating.
Your analogies are bad. Way points and crosshairs are designed to help you, thus modifying their appearance without changing their mechanic is not considered cheating by nearly every gamer out there. Hardware can definitely be a source of unfairness. The problem is it's unfair that you're getting bad fps, not that other players are getting acceptable performance. The graphics are a public option that does not require tamporing with game files. The developers have given permission to all players to change their graphics.

Enjoy a game that isn't just about K:D ratio! For the record I think people like you ruin games!

The default consistency checks are really bad. Proper servers run beefier consistency checks which will stop simple cheating like this.
If anything this game needs more of them.
