+1 - I recently had an issue where my mic was working fine everywhere except NS2, and I was commanding. Took me a while to figure out, and restarting the game did the trick. But it would've been nice to open Options to run a quick check and see if the game is picking up my mic.
I always have to ask if my Mic works in ns2. For some reason I often sound like a chipmunk. Yet every time I test it in Windows its working fine.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> +1 Happend to me several times aswell
Sick and tired of this issue. I never have problems with the mic unless the jack is actually loose, and all the games let me check it ingame myself. NS2, the jack isn't loose, steam verifies the mic is working (shift+tab, check) and it just doesn't work.

I was wondering why the heck this game was open to ducks and chipmunks ;-)
To be serious, yes, test mic echo would be really fine.
To my knowledge, since the game is integrated with Steamworks, does it not utilize Valve's software for Voice? If so, you can test all of this through Steam itself, without loading NS2.
If not, then I will add another +1 to this. It appears this is the most likely scenario as there are a multitude of Voice controls in-game.
Most of the in-game functionality is part of Spark. Steam integration was really an afterthought to allow purchasing + authentication. I expect more steamy features in the future, however.

EDIT: NS1 had it!
