List of entities
Picked up mapping again for the luls, but I have been out so long that there's whole set of new entities and whatnot that I don't recognize.
So is there anywhere an updated list of entities and what they are for & how they're used. Tried searching, but couldn't find even the wiki.

Relevant to your query is this page with a list of entities & descriptions. I think it's slightly out of date and not very helpful, so you're really better off going through the list of entities and asking specific questions here.
The last thing I'll link you is the ExtraEntities mod by Jimwest. It adds some of the entities that you might have been familiar with from Hammer that are not currently in NS2.
