<div class="IPBDescription">Upgraded who'll win?</div> Anyone checked if the marines have all lvl 3 upgrades but no hmg or HA and they go toe to toe against fades, who'll win? The fades have andrenaline and carpace.
Sure the upgraded weapons and armor would help, but them you got a 200 hp upright grasshoper coming at you with powerful ranged attacks and the marine just have upgrades, and no HA or HMGS its a FADE WIN
Who would win, a skulk or a ha/hmg marine? Honestly i do not get your question. Why would you want to compare a 0 rp spawn with a 50 rp spawn which takes a long time to evolve?
although the marine spawn is free, and each fades cost 44 + upgrades, you have to take into account that to upgrade the marines to lv 3 armor and weapons, it takes a lot more. Lv 3 alone is 60 rp, which is considerably more than each fade.
if they lv 3 marine and fade fought each other, I would say the marine wins just because of the lmg ROF.
Anything without an HMG going toe-to-toe with a Fade (i.e. close range) is lunchmeat UNLESS you capitalize on some sort of situation. For instance, wait until the Fade just fired 5 Acid Rockets at something and is retreating... then do a mini-charge.... empty your LMG clip at medium range, and back off while dumping your pistol clip as well. Now get somewhere out of sight and reload both. Repeat. It will take some work, but you can absolutely kill a Fade this way. Now, if you get too close or the Fade player is good, then you WILL die about the time you run out of ammo and need to reload (claws are vicious). But that's ok. Just respawn, and go after him again. If the Fade has Carapace (and you don't have to run all the way across the map) you can usually catch him before he's back to full health/armor. So, just keep at it.
FYI: it only takes 4 Fade swipes (80 points a pop) to kill a full health, fully armor upgraded marine (110 armor). well basicly a marine should NEVER be alone against a fade. so this comaprison is totally useless since it defenetly is a situation that should not happen. if it happens tough under normal circumstances (average fade/average marine) the fade will win. Simply because he can damage a marine easier since it doesn´t need to aim that well.
hmm i am not shure of the upgrade cost. for marines its 20+40+60 twice right? + the cost of the research station. what does it cost? darn have no clue something like 50?! around 290 res for the marine then. the fade 80 for the second hive, 6*14 for the chambers its 84 + 44 for fade +4 for both upgrades. 212 for a fade. alas a fade cost the 48 after spawn every time and the marine costs this only once. dunno why i just calculated this... guess 0.30 in the morning isn´t a good time to post <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
2 seconds is a long time and at the range you have to be to have every bullet hit (if only due to the fact the lmg fires a cone) means that you will die in under 2 seconds to the claws UNLESS you ambush the fade.
It's a daft question anyway though, the fade IS the more powerfull BUT, the marine costs nothing and has no time to upgrade once the level 3 upgrades have been taken.
SO. While indevidually a fade is more powerfull than a lmg/la marine with full level 3 upgrades. an alien team with two hives vs marines with full level 3's should be approximatly even PROVIDED the marines have 1 person with a gl who knows how to use it.
Upgraded LMG hurts bad, would depend on what upgrades the Fade gets. I would say its a 50/50 chance depending on distance. If its point blank either has a good chance of winning.
I just noticed the aviar of the post starter looks like the psy thing before the yellow thing with a chinese **obscenity** catcher in one hand and a something in the other?
I toast fades on my own with an lmg with or without upgrades. The trick is to hide around a corner, wait until they fire their volley, and then rush them. If they acid rocket attack you, they damage themselves as well. Up close a fade is not too much trouble for a lmg toting marine at all.
Unfortunately people are scared to rush a fade for some unbeknownst reason, they fire from far away taking acid rocket damage, and then just let the fade retreat around the corner to heal and recharge, then repeat.
Another thing to consider is that though Fades cost 44 per respawn, they are much more survivable than even a fully upgraded lmg la marine. Not only do they have more health and armor, if they're wounded all they need do is go find a couple defense chambers to stand beside and they're back up to full in both categories for free in no time. A marine, on the other hand, has to have his comm drop him health, which takes up resources (though not much, granted) and has to get another marine to weld up his armour.
Whenever I play Fade, by the time I finally die i've saved up enough res to evolve to Fade right away on respawn, so it never really seems that slow.

Fades can do the powerful splash attacks even on fully upgrade marines with no HA or HMG, also depends if the commander is a turrent farmer.
