It's been reported multiple times by different people, make sure you submit the crash report if you get the dialogue box.
It happens between 1-5 minutes ingame, totally unplayable. Is this a known bug?
Another thing you can do is to make sure all of your drivers are updated.
Im running 12gb of ddr3 ram, a gtx 580, i7920, and i of course have my pagefile enabled. When im playing the game im usually at around 7gb of ram with all my other stuff open (browsers, chat programs, assorted random crap)
This usually only happens when the spectator camera places my view out of the map's bounds in the first second or two of joining a team.
Used to be just when I was in an EXO, now happens anywhere. Sometimes I am kicked back to the title screen with the error "Invalid Data"
Let me know if your QA guys want the logs.
Everyone refer to the stickied posts for instructions on how to provide your ns2 log files here, curious if theres any errors.
Next time you send a log report from crashing regarding this issue, PM me your email and that log can be picked out of the bunch.
edit: TY @ Entropy
Looks like we just upload somewhere and paste a link here? I was unable to find any sticky topic specifically describing how you guys want logs sent to you.
Please provide UWE with information, do the following (ripped from here):
Attach or post a DXDIAG information log file, this provides UWE with your system specs, driver and OS info:
Click on your Windows Desktop Start menu.
In winXP you want to find "RUN", in Vista/7 you want the search bar at the bottom of the menu.
Type in DXDIAG and hit Enter
A window pops up, Either a Diagnostic will auto run or you need to click on a button: Run DxDiag now ~something similar to that.
When the progress bar is done, Click on the "Save All Information" button, you can either copy paste it to the forums or post it into a website such as http://www.pastebin.com and post the link here on the forums.
Attach or post the contents of the NS2 "log.txt" file, this contains useful error messages for the UWE devs:
To get to the file, press windows key + R, fill in "%appdata%\Natural Selection 2", hit enter.
You can either copy paste it to the forums or post it into a website such as http://www.pastebin.com and post the link here on the forums.
I start the game connect to a server, load successfully and when I join a team everthing freezes. Checking the game cache worked last time but since it takes about 20 minutes for me to start the game, join a server crash, restart, check the cache and then hope it's working, I figured I'd post here. Especially since I can't submit an error report because everything freezes.
So you computer wizards, please do your magic!
Thank you. Also thank you that it has worked up to now. Was fun.
My name is Gabriel Faria Campos (*Pumpkin Golem) Ive always been a big fan os ns, i even bought the alpha! But lately Ive been experiencing a periodic freezing (every 5 to 10 min) due to loss of connection, it goes yelow and then red for like 30 seconds and then it comes back to normal , and Ive also notice it happens with lots of other players since 238 (its in the foruns) and nothing has been done.....I really want to play the game but its been a long time, and the game is unplayable for us since 238. Hope u can fix it soon...
I dont know if it helps but when it happens after the 30 seconds freezing the ping goes to 999 but i can still see other player moving with no lag and even hit them.....but nothing else appears....its all delayed ....then all of a sudden i hear music and the screen fills up with the kills and the upgrades that didnt appear before... hope it helps!
Att Gabriel.
@op: watching and recording what net_stats 1 entered in the console reports while you experience this would be very helpful. Along with dxdiag, and your network configuration. (Router? Etc etc)
having the page file as 1.5x the size of your physical memory is not a correct rule. The correct answer is "your memory usage at its utmost peak + some margin".
Now I know noone ever believes a random comment, so read the following blogposts. (he links through them all). Thats A MS devs blogpost. Enjoy.
