<div class="IPBDescription">What's good/cheap?</div>So I've already got some hosting at hostmonster, but I was considering registering some more domain names.
Do any of you know any good/cheap places I could do this?

Hostmonster offers 10$/year.

Also, should I be worried about the "privacy" thing hostmonster offers? Basically they put their information in the whois stuff rather than my personal information. I'm just not sure if that's legit or if it would cause me problems later if I wanted to switch hosting.

That's interesting. I don't know if you would run into trouble or not. I use GoDaddy because I'm lazy and I only use my domain to host files anyway. Also, at the time I was looking I was worried about domain tasting, and I knew they were safe.

$10/yr is pretty standard.. and no you don't need to worry about them putting their information in the whois. From what I understand they do that to prevent you from having junk mail mailed to you plus they probably put your email address down anyways so if someone wanted to contact you they could do it that way without it being inconvenient.

It depends on how scared you are of fraud. Even though the domain is yours, it might be difficult to claim it from the registrar if they decide that it has enough market value to warrant the loss of prestige from seizing it. That'd be substantially more difficult for them if it had your WHOIS info on it, I imagine.

However, this is unlikely to happen, as this essentially amounts to theft and will thus incur a steep loss of prestige and thus market share. It'd have to be one damn valuable domain to be profitable.

Thanks for the offer, I appriciate it, but I've already got hosting and can get the 10 buck deal from my current hosting... And considering my parents just shifted their company over to my hosting, there is no hosting rate cheaper than what I currently have. (Free!)

Yeah man. Those eight dollars you could've saved? They would've haunted you to the grave. To. The. Grave. You would never have lived it down, and you would've died young and miserable. Good thing you dodged THAT bullet.

There are n-number of providers offers cheap cost for domain registration. Before choosing the provider, you should check their company existence and customer support. These are the two important factors used to choose a domain registrar. I have registered my domains with hosting to the provider . Normally, the registration cost is around 9 dollars here. They are providing good customer support and valuable services till now. They also providing full DNS control and Whois control to my domains. This whois control is very helpful to prevent my personal details from the public view and from unwanted hackers.
