How to disable the com requirement

I finally have had it with this new com requirement system. It makes it impossible to start up a server. In the past you could start a game with some noobs with no coms until the server populates. Currently you just watch your server get up to 8 people and then no one on one team coms and then literally everyone leaves.

There needs to be some option to disable this so we can actually have games start so we can get servers populated enough to actually play. Currently the only solution is just to make your server 24 slots or more so that it never empties out in the first place.

    Well, having an option to disable it wouldn't be a bad idea I guess; but starting games without a commander results in moot games anyway.

    I take a moot game over no game any day. Also if both sides do not have a com they can play until coms do join.

    I agree that waiting for comms should be a changeable option choice is always good. But why is it better to start a game when the others don't even have a comm? Just because noobs don't get it and leave or do you just like to destroy a team with 5 minutes advantage of having a comm? Why not play combat mode instead?

    never experienced this? everyones always racing to the commchair/hive when they join up. maybe you just need more commanders on your servers, zero?

    No the issue here is when trying to fill up an empty server. For example your in and can command. Then like 5 people all at the same time join. Non of them will command for the other team. They then sit there for like 3min and leave while at the same time a player that can com then joins but now there is only 2 people. So that player then leaves and the server is empty again...

    Before the com system in this case the game would have started and they would have gotten a com, we would have played a half ass game but afterword the server would be full and we can then start even games.

    It could be that if it ever took less than an avg of like 3min for players to connect to servers maybe this would be less common but right now this game has a lot of trouble when there is only a hand full of players and the com requirement to start makes that a lot worse.

    i would also like this to be disabled on our competetive servers since we run ns2stats in tournamentmode (ready, unready, etc.). currently its a bit too much with this and the tournament system activated at the same time.
    and no i will not disable tournament mode because its much better than the default option imo ^^

    More flexibility doesn't hurt, perhaps an admin command to start the game anyway without two commanders would also be worthwhile, that way you could keep the functionality.

    While I admit it sucks to not be on the same team as your friends, to populate a server, try just joining with 1 to 3 other friends, and having a 2-on-2. It's my experience (East Coast NA) that servers fill up very fast.

    What does the Tournament mode do again? I haven't done enough PUG's to pick and pry to find out the changes.

    Oh in my case I idle for about an hour my myself and then 2 or 3 people will usually join about the same time and we can start a game. Like I said the issue is that in cases like this the inability to get a com for both sides before those players than leave can be an issue sometimes. As a result there should be some way around it. I like the admin command idea as that might help a lot.

    Oh great today we had a full server empty out b/c no one wanted to enter the com chair for marines. There has to be a way mod or otherwise to fix this shit.

    I often find that the comm chair and hive have been destroyed. Then it requires an admin to cycle the map.

    Gonna need to agree on that - unless your server is popular then it'll be hard to seed esp if it's empty.
