if not, there is something wrong with your internet. Try change the DNS to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4
- Unsuscribe to all the mod.
- Delete everything in "%appdata%/Natural Selection 2/Workshop"
- restart NS2 several times
Perhaps that too should do the trick:
Open the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\XXXXXX\4920\remote\options.xml"
Make sure you have those line as is:
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--><mods>
<active_mods></active_mods>
</mods><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I actually have the same problem, since yesterday (steam workshop had troubles)
What i did :
- unsuscribe to all mods
- delete content of workshop folder
- restarted NS
Then i went to a non_modded server. The magic "downloading mods..." appeared, it downloaded a mod called "ý", but worked, i was able to join the server.
2nd try with a combat server... Here's comes the problem. Stucked on "downloading mods...", so i opened console and disconnected. I looked at mods on my computer, and i found 3 mods called "ý". One of them available, 2 of them "Downloading (0%)"
I tried to join another server (without mods on it), and i'm stuck again on the magic downloading mods...
I join some files to show you my console and the mods screen
Can someone help me ?

How to delete Steam cloud data:
1) Turn off Steam and go to Steam/userdata/<steamidNUM>/4920
4920 folder should be NS2. Please verify this before moving on.
2) Press windows key, type CMD and press CRTL-SHIFT-ENTER
3) Type powershell and hit ENTER
4) Type clc C:\Steam\userdata\<SteamID>\<NS2NUM>\remote\*
Replace <SteamID> and <NS2NUM> with the correct numbers.
5) Don't hit enter until you verify path. Don't fuck up and delete something important, like Sys32 or something.
6) Hit enter, open Steam back up.
7) Launch NS2
8) "Upload Local Files to Cloud"
Bam, done. A nice side effect is that you are back to green-text rookie mode.
The problem was the cache, so i deleted every mod again, verified that i wasn't subscribed to any mod, and restarted my computer.
Then, lunched the game again and joined a random server, worked well. Same for modded server !
Thanks again
You might be surprised how many people do this. Server directed steam workshop downloading is inconsistent at best, yet seems to work fine every time when subscribed to manually.
I couldn't join Marine vs Marine servers with the MvM mod active. It would just down load mods. The console listed about 5 mods downloading and listed 3 (all the same) as downloaded but would continue to just sit.
I made all mods inactive and restarted NS2. I could then join NS2 vanilla.
Here's how I fixed it:
- unsubscribe to all mods
- quit NS2 and Steam
- run NS2 as Administrator
- delete the Workshop folder
- reboot your PC
- start Steam, and launch NS2 > check your mods-tab, to make sure it's empty
- subscribe to your desired mods again
- quit NS2
- launch NS2 again, now with all mods downloaded, and enable them ingame
