<div class="IPBDescription">5 Pages!</div> I really was going to put this on the www.Natural-Selection.org site, but I cant get to the forums there. So here it is, dont laugh.
“**obscenity**, I got a resource node here commander! I’ve been waiting for five minutes!”
Smith was getting impatient with the commander and so was I. We know he has other things to do, but after five minutes of this guys mouth someone’s gotta here him. The commander finally radios in and says it’ll be a sec till he has enough resources to get this nozzle capped. I decide to rest on some rusted pipes running along the dark corridor. Freemen cant relax in his **obscenity** off mood.
It’s been at least 2 hours since we’ve gone back to HQ and refilled. And hopefully this would be our last run till then. We’ve scouted out 2 other nodes and no resistance yet. I’ve never seen any of these Kharaa that they’ve sent us here to exterminate.
I start to think about what they could be like while sitting here in the misty corridor waiting for a resource collector. Smith cant stop moving and I’m over here dozing off. Just as I start to fall over I’m awoken by a noise similar to someone stepping on an insect. Smith is now frozen and searching around wildly. I ask him what he thought of it, but he doesn’t react. I decide to jump to my feet and shoulder my LMG. The air is starting to get colder and my fingers are beginning to get numb. I hear the sound again, and this time we’re both frozen with fear. I turn on my flashlight and start looking at the ceiling above. I start from were we came from and work my way to the resource node. Just as I look over the node the resource gatherer drops down and we both fly back to the walls. Smith let’s his LMG rip and the corridor is filled with metallic clinking and bullet shells. When the smoke clears I see Smith standing above me.
“Get up fool! Its finally here!”
Smith helps me up to my feet and we start working on the node. I can’t believe we were scared shitless over something like that. Maybe I’m too paranoid over meeting one of these Kharaa. Just as we finish the node the commander orders us back to the refinery hive location to build up some more defense. Smith leads playing with his knife as we go.
“I bet you thirty bucks I can get one with this thing.”
“Smith, you’ll probably cut yourself before you cut an alien.”
“And what’s that supposed to mean?”
“Just keep a lookout and stop playing with it ok!”
He isn’t the smartest person in the system, but he can be helpful at times. When we reach the refinery the room is filled with a burning smell and a mechanical sound that prevents us from hearing each other. The commander drops in a turret factory and we go to work. We finish the turret factory. And the commander drops in a phase gate on the catwalk above us on accident.
“Oops, sorry about that guys! Just go ahead and build it there.”
“Arrgg, I hate this commander!”
“I heard that, Smith! Think about that next time you’re being ripped apart by Kharaa.”
Smith obviously doesn’t know how to keep his mouth shut, so I signal for him to let it be. I head up the ladder to the phase gate and smith follows.
“Hey, gimme a sec, I gotta reload.”
“Sure, I’ll be working on the phase gate.”
When I reach the top I hear the ungodly noise that was in the corridor earlier. When I turn around there’s a huge green glob coming at my face. I hit the ground and see the fat pig-like creature in the corridor that we came from. It fires another shot at me but it can’t go through the metal catwalk.
“Get that dirty **obscenity**. Smith!”
“I’m on it!”
I hear Smith shooting and yelling at the direction of the Kharaa. He disappears into the corridor and the sound of his gunshots echo in the hallway. I radio in to the commander.
“We got a fat piece of **obscenity** shooting at us, we need some backup ASAP!”
“Just finish that phase gate and they can get there!”
“But Smith needs help; I can’t stay here!”
“The phase gate is more important, now just forget-”
I don’t even stay long enough for him to finish. I’m heading down the ladder and yelling for Smith. I can hear the faint sound of an LMG clicking from ammo loss, and Smith swearing. I’m almost around the corner to the resource nozzle and a spine-crackling chuckle comes from behind me. I freeze in my tracks and ready my LMG. I swipe around to see a small doglike monster dropping from the ceiling. I pull the trigger and send everything I have in the Kharaa’s direction until I run out of ammo. When I come to my senses all that’s left is a spatter of alien guts on every surface. I reloaded and went to check on Smith. When I reach the node all I find is the fat Kharaa’s dead body with a knife stabbed into its gut. I look for Smith but all I find is some human blood on the metal grating.
“Smith’s gone, but he got one. I’m going to go looking for him now!”
“You’re gonna head back to that hive location and build that phase gate before you do anything! If we loose that location we’re history!”
The commander has a point and I want a new gun sometime, so I decide to look for Smith later. I walk back towards the refinery thinking about what happened to Smith. At least he got his thirty bucks for that knife kill. As I take a left I hear the same squishy noise coming from inside the refinery. I ready my weapon and slowly advanced around the corner. When I peep around I see a huge tower of pulsating biological mass covered in spikes. Before I can get a better look another glob of spit comes from it and misses me wildly. I fire a few rounds, which blew off an arm, and duck back in. I can here a sound like trying to swallow something large that lasts a bit. When I turn around the arm was regenerated like new.
“Damn these things! Commander, they have heavy defense blocking me from getting into the refinery! What should I do?”
“I hear you, the phase gate is still there on the catwalk; they don’t seem to have found it. You need to go around their defenses and get it up. Once u have it operational, I’ll send in some Heavy Armor to back you up. Don’t try to shoot through those defenses, it’s no use.”
“I figured that much.”
But how was I going to get around them? Just then the commander drops some ammo. I’m thankful that I am still alive. I guess I’ll be looking for Smith after all. I head back to the node. To the right of the node I enter a long horizontal shaft with a catwalk along the middle built over water. This leads to another corridor like the last that takes a left. I notice some blood (human) on the floor and it leads to the end of this hallway. When I reach the end there is an elevator shaft to my right. I pause for a moment and look for the controls. Just then I hear what sounds like a large bird flying up the elevator shaft. I hear random radio static.
“They got Fades, two hives! We need backup! Ahhhhh!”
“Feedwater is almost taken! We can let them get all three! Our Heavy Armor and HMG’s wont be enough against Onos!”
Then it’s silence. Not what you want to hear when you’re alone and on the opposite side of the ship. I needed to get to that phase gate ASAP! When I peer up the shaft I ketch a glimpse of something moving around. I press the button and jump on the lift. I carefully search around but see nothing. When I reach the top I almost open the door but a bird like creature shoots up the shaft and hovers overhead spraying down spikes that dig into my armor. I unload my LMG on it and send it falling back down the shaft. I don’t intend on letting it escape so I send the lift back down and hear an unpleasant sound of a Kharaa exploding. The alien must have not noticed it coming down on him. I ask the commander for a med pack and get one shortly. I go back up the elevator and open the door. They have completely blockaded our base. I need to move fast because the aliens now know I’m behind their lines. I jump across the hallway dodging the spit from the Kharaa towers. I’m now inside the EM Drill Shaft. It is a gigantic shaft going up and down with a catwalk going across the middle. None of the Kharaa have been hear so I’m safe for a while. The catwalk leads to the Observation Bridge and I follow a ladder into the Databank access. When I get to the bottom I come face to face with an alien resource center.
“Don’t shoot it! You’ll give away your position to the aliens!”
“Thanks guardian angel.”
“Just be glad you have me, our base is being pounded by Fades and you’re our only hope of getting around to take out a hive. They Have Feedwater and it wont be long till you’re being hunted down by Onos!”
He was right again, so I upped the pace. Up another ladder and I was back in the Refinery. I am in a look out sort of room with a catwalk leading out around two gigantic cylinders sticking out of the ceiling. I look around and see tons of alien buildings. I sneak out and stay low as not to be spotted. I can see Fades moving about below me and freeze up so they don’t notice. After about 1 minute I hear the commander say they have Onos charging in. I finally reach the phase gate and begin building. The noise from the nano-tech working alerts a nearby dog type Kharaa and it starts running up the walls into the darkness above. I pull out the LMG in flashlight. I decide to keep building just incase I don’t make it. The progress indicator has 2 bars left and I hear the alien right above me moving in for the kill. I decide to keep at it and just as the alien leaps off the cylinder a Heavy Armor appears in front of me, causing my to fall back. The Kharaa explodes right over my face and I’m showed with parts.
“Get up fool! It’s finally here!”
Smith looks down and helps me up, again.
“Nice shot, Smith!”
Smith starts unloading his HMG on the hive and another HA comes through the gate.
“Thanks, but where’s my thirty bucks man?”
“I thought you were dead!”
“Far from it. Now lets blow **obscenity** up!”
The hive spurts stuff out all over the refinery painting a new coat of guts. A Fade comes in through the corridor and is instantly turned around from the three HMG’s showering bullets on it. When the hive dies they begin to work on the defenses, and then we set up base. The commander comes in with news.
“Finally! They’re starting to retreat! Watch out guys, they’ll be on your **obscenity** in no time. We’ll build back our defenses and you guys hold that location at all costs. I jump through the phase gate and pick up a jetpack and shotgun. When I get back I hear the sound of a freight train coming from the opposite end of the Refinery. When I look around there’s an Onos charging up a ramp into our guys. I do the craziest thing possible. I hit the jets and hover over the Onos and start pumping round after round into its back. The HMG’s are pouring into it also but nothing is stopping it. And then, my jets run out! I have no choice but to fall onto the Onos’ back! I land hard and hold on for life. I can’t use the shotgun or I’ll fall so I pull out my knife and stab the mess out of the beast. Just before it reaches my men, the monster falls over roaring like hell. It’s the most awful sound I’ve ever heard.
“How do you like that knife kill?”
Smith doesn’t say a word as he’s fending off Fades coming from all directions. One Fade blinks onto a soldier and rips him in 2. I blast over it and blow an arm off while Smith fills it with lead. Just then another 2 fully loaded marines come through the phase. I start building more turrets while the rest cover.
“No more Onos now. All we have to worry about is Fades.”
“Just Fades? Are you kidding? Wait till those Lerks start using that gas crap, then we’ll be fvcked.”
**Here’s were you can add what you want; I just finished it off.**
Once the base is set up we take the resource nodes in the area and secure our main base more. We eventually take out Feedwater and then the Engine hive, exterminating the Kharaa presence. Those crazy Kharaa messed with the wrong frontiersmen.
