Blue building shadows - clarification

When a marine commander places a new building, it exists in a form of blue shadow. When an alien runs through it, the shadow disappears. My question is - what happens to the invested resources? Are they lost, as if a properly built structure gets destroyed, or does the marine teams get a fraction/full amount back?

Thank you for clarification.

When an alien touches a dropped but unbuilt blue structure (a "ghost"), the structure is destroyed and the commander gets a full refund of the t.res that was used to drop it. The com can also cancel a ghost himself and get the same results.

Once a marine starts to build the dropped structure, even if it's not finished, the invested t.res is committed. If the structure is destroyed then the t.res is lost. The com can recycle a partially or fully built structure to get a portion of the invested resources back, but not a full refund.

Is it always a full refund? If that's the intention, I think I've run into a bug a few times with phase gates only giving back 11 from their blueprint being knocked out.

I think you only get 80% back if you recycle a blue ghost structure as a commander where as you get 100% if an alien makes it poof.

You can still chew on the blueprint and destroy it so the enemy comm doesn't get the resources.

Like Xarius said in the post just above yours, the comm get 100% of the resources back.

Ghost sturctures were introduced in their current form to stop commanders trapping lifeforms and blocking of passages btw.

You can't chew on ghosts. They will refund when you get close enough as an alien. You can shoot them down with ranged attacks though, so either the lerk's spikes or gorge's spit/bilebomb can take them down. It's a cool feature, but I don't think I've seen it happen more than once.

Can you kill them without refund with a skulk parasite? Because if so, it's an important and not very sensible "feature".

    AFAIK, it works like this:
    - Alien touches the ghost structure = 100% refund
    - Comm recycles the ghost structure = 75% refund
    - Alien attacks the ghost structure from a distance = It dies like normal (e.g. 0% refund)

As a marine, its better to try to get an alien to poof the structure than recycle it. As an alien, its better to have a class with a ranged attack (e.g. gorge spit, lerk spikes) kill the structure from a distance.

You can but it takes too long. Parasites do almost no damage. I don't think it would be worth it in any situation to spend time parasiting a ghosted building.

    Yup that's right on.
