<div class="IPBDescription">with Vortex AU8810 sound card</div> Win 98 SE
256mb ram
P3 866
Geforce1 DDR
Vortex AU8810 sound card

If I run the game with the sound disabled in device manager it works fine but obviously it is shite with no sound <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'm using the latest drivers and all other games and HL mods like DoD work absolutely fine.
NS runs fine on my main pc but sometimes my son and I like to play NS together <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Try finding an acceleration setting for your sound and turning it down. I had a less serious problem where my sound messed up anytime an ingame MP3 was playing which was fixed by dropping the sound accleration a notch. I'm not sure were you'd find it in win 98 but it's worth a try.

    Thanks so much, that did the trick! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
    For anyone else with same problem and set up:
    Settings/Control Panel/Aurrial Vortex Audio - click A3D settings tab and check the disable direct hardware acceleration <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    hey guys

    this has worked for me as well so now im hap-hap-happy <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ive got a different sound card (sonic impact) so if ou are having a similar problem its worth a try anyway

    for me to change the acceleration thingo i had to go to

    settings-control panel- sounds and multimedia and then clik around a few tabs, advanced etc. so its just a matter of finding where your soundcard would put the option of that

    anyway, im gona go play NS on my compuda now, dont have to use my brothers anymoree <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
