Hi NS2 devs/ playtesters
I have a alienware x51, and I understand that you guys used the alienware x51 in all your PAX PRIME/EAST events and would like to know the graphics settings you guys used. I have a i5 with gtx 660. Ive tweeked around a bit but you guys are the pros and have probably tested to allow greatest framerate/ visuals.
Thanks

Best way to find out is r_stats in console adjust the settings keeping in mind the refresh rate of your monitor and late-game fps dips.

IronHorse, Strayan, and WasabiOne were the ones who set it up, so go ahead and shoot all three a PM and see if one responds. Might wanna make it quick before their memory fades.

I wish to know what your graphic settings were when you guys ran NS2 at PAX on the alienware X51.

Well since they were showing it off to the general public, I'm assuming they ran it at high/very high or whatever the high options are.

Personally, I think it's best just to run the game at lowest possible settings in your native resolution; best performance with no clutter

Sorry i meant to be helpful and humorous but only recalled to do one ( @Squishpoke was right afterall! :-P)

    Exact settings in order:
    (Res was 1920 x 1080)
    jDxL8LR.jpg

Important to note that AO imparts, by the nature of it's implementation, mouse input delay. Medium is far less notable in this regard, as well as not costing 10-20fps like High would, but still looking pretty.
Arguably you could still disable it for some small gains, but we were achieving decent enough FPS throughout (Over 50 typically) with only 12 players on a LAN, with a dedicated server.

@ezekel : i disagree. I play pubs with all high except AO and atmospherics off. However when i play competitively everything is low. I enjoy the immersion - its a different experience.

I knew there was something off about Ambient Occlusion with the mouse input. Is this the only setting that does it?

No medium does it too, just far less. And medium only taxes on avg ~2-4 fps, comparatively.
Ideally, off is preferable if you are sensitive to mouse input delays at all.
The devs are aware of these issues btw.

Oh I meant other settings as in shadows, atmospherics, bloom etc. Is the mouse input delay only applicable to Ambient Occlusion?

Interesting about the AO thing, I am sensitive to such things, always trying to get more responsiveness.
