Commander Help option - do you use it?

Personally, I wish there was a middle way for that option between "absolute rookie help" and "no help at all".

I consider it really useful to be able to research a trait specialization in an upgrade structure or to upgrade the next weapon or armor level with one click. Or to drop an RT at a location with one click. Or to start researching Jetpacks/Exos or new evolutions in the Hive.
Not only do you save a click but it also gives you some visual feedback about whether that trait structure has finished maturing, whether you can afford to upgrade at that time, whether the previous finished researching or whether infestation is covering an RT location to allow you to drop it.

Those are all really beneficial features to me, but I wish there was a mode for that Commander Help so that it doesn't suggest me stuff like "you might want to place a trait structure here" or "drop a Cyst here" or "you haven't put a Phase Gate and Obs in this room yet". It's extremely annoying if those icons still show up while you are in the process of placing a structure already. You might want to drop the structure exactly where the Help icon is, but instead of placing the structure does it then select the suggested structure instead.
It's a love-hate relationship right now.

No. It is extremely annoying and does far more damage than good in my games.

I like to have it on as well as I like the fact that I can click on upgrades directly on screen without having to click on the structure and go to the bottom right to click what i want to upgrade. Rarely ever does the icons next to structures or tech points get in the way.

I have all those things disabled, they were annoying and caused mis clicks

for the first few times it was nice to know what structures I was capable of building, having gotten used to SC2 hotkeys I turned them off and just use the NS2 hotkeys now.
especially after accidentally clicking one by mistake

Well, I've seen a few commanders in comp play causing accidental beacons when they confused the hotkey for researching Phase Tech. Wouldn't have happened with Commander Help. :p

I use it, only time it annoys me is when I'm trying to get mines, and I almost always hit SG/AA.

    You can turn that off?

I usually find it pretty annoying but I didn't even realize there was a toggle for it.

I use it and find it useful for certain things (like a reminder during hectic moments) but many many times it is too cramped and too close to the model to click the actual model (like armory or hives) without accidently clicking that tool tip.
    Hey I should make a bug report, shouldn't I?

I turned it off after getting frustrated at being unable to click on the actual buildings without starting some research or another. Its worst on Aliens when you go to hit the hive and -oh shoot. Shade hive started. If you're not paying attention and don't catch it, here goes an interesting game.

I'd like a more advanced option set for it so you can turn certain things on and off. Having res tower help and obs phase tech would be good (I'm one of those guys CrushaK that hit the wrong button and beaconed). But at this point I've trained my fingers to do most of that automatically.

I would like if the ammo and medpack icons above players was on all the time, just so you can quickly see which marine made the request. That's the only thing I feel I'm missing out on by having commander help disabled, if you just force yourself to use the hotkeys you learn them pretty quick and then it's much easier and faster than moving your mouse all around the screen to upgrade stuff. E.g. I have the obs, arms lab and armory on separate control groups so I can start an upgrade or trigger a beacon with a few key stroke without having to move my view back to base.

But those icons above players' heads would be nice, but prefereably not clickable so they don't screw up any mouse clicks.

I'm not good with the hotkeys and all i ever use is Q-A as alien and E-S as comm so it's helpful to select a structure in one click.

It can be bad if you have to beacon before phase is researched since it can be hard to click only on the obs. I usually hotkey the obs so this isn't a big deal.
