Ns seems to have gotten a lot of recognition as beign a decent mod recently, with Gamespy giving it <a href='http://www.gamespy.com/goty2002/pc/index15.shtml' target='_blank'>mod of the year</a>. It's also taken a pretty solid grasp of 4th place on the Gamespy <a href='http://www.gamespy.com/stats/mods.asp?id=15&s=1' target='_blank'>top mods for Halflife</a>, however there general feeling seems to be that player numbers are decreasing.
Is that suprising? Not really... after any release player numbers will spike and then drop to a pretty steady level.
Do you know anyone who has quit NS for another mod, or have you quit it yourself? Why?
Do you think the number of players will stay more at less the current level or can things only get better/worse?

Example : Generally, I am playing NS & AHL, or NS & RtCW, etc etc. Lots of people play NS & DoD (tho why they play it, seeing as it's MOH:AA but not as good, is beyond me)
It keeps the interest up if you vary your gaming, and AHL (in my case) keeps my accuracy practise up. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I just surf from release to release. Before NS, I played firearms for a while. Before that I played DoD for a while. Before that I was playing CS for a long time. Since it looks like 1.04 is taking so long to come out, perhaps I'll switch to whichever makes a new release next. Variety is the spice of life. I would say NS is my favorite right now, but I think lack of maps is killing the novelty factor.
Besides, how many maps does it take to please a CS player? All that is needed is ns_dust... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
As to the lack of maps, I can live with only seven, heh. If you haven't noticed, the seven maps that we have are all amazingly high quality. Even if you don't like them all, they all have great gameplay and looks.
Seriously though, me and some friends have formed a semi-serious CS clan. Despite playing CS for ages and being fairly decent i've never been in one so I am currently taking a hiatus from NS to see what its like being in a clan. I love NS and do prefer it to CS and will still play it when I can, just not as often.
